i just got my windows tinted. They did a good job but they said they didn't tint over the dot matrix because it wouldn't stock. and it bothers me that it doesn't go all the way up. What are my options here? i heard u can do a black piece of vynl. Do i put that on the inside? and it matches up with the tint? i have 20% in the back window. what else can i do? Thanks.
p.s. pictures would help if you have them. Thanks
mine has the tint all the way up, but I too have that no stick problem. I sure would like to know how to get rid of it....
wet sand it! Use a spray bottle and a 600-800 grit sandpaper. all it is, is paint. nothing special, just be careful of the glass.

mine was tinted all the way up... i would say 90% of it stuck.. my sisters and brothers j's also stuck pretty good....... one solution that i've seen here is people painting the inside portion.... that or aparently gluing the tint in that area solves the non-stick problem
take it back to the tint shop. and have them do a black vinyl on the inside of the window! me and my bro did this. best solution 2 that problem.

Masked mine off then sprayed flat black paint on it, looks amazing!!
putting tape on the tint wont pull it off or mess it up at all?
just use a vynal strip. looks good and is the easiest way.
the vinyl strip is the best option like others have said...
Flat black paint it. Thats the way mine was done by the tint shop. Looks like stock no problems. I even had to remove the tint from the entire car becasue of state law changes, and the painted part looks great even with the rest of the car not being tinted.

nope.
it's actually powdercoating and does NOT come off.
Rollin' on question marks since 07.

I see the question asked a lot, I don't understand, I had mine tinted in 2005 and it is still good. Are there that many incompetent window tinters across the country. My guy did my whole car in 30 mins. The rears were done in 5% and the doors were 20%. No air bubbles and I live in So Calif
I just had my windows tinted last week and the tint looked good on about 1/2 of the dot matrix. I went back to the place and he squeegeed it some and there was still some water left that needs dried out before it will stick the rest of the way. Just him squeegeeing made it look a little better already... In a few weeks it will look like it was factory tinted

if your lucky..
I have yet to see a jbody back window that is 100% adhered to the dot matrix... mine was also re-squeegeed a week after and mine did not adhere 100%
where can i get a vynl strip put on? the tint shop doesnt do it
Flat black it with spray bomb. Half the fun is making it look nicer, the other half is getting baked on spraypaint fumes
What I did is tape a line across the rear window, 1/4 inch below the dot matrix. From there, I masked off the rest of the rear window and interior with some cheap plastic drop cloths you can get at any Canadian Tire/Home Depot/etc. Use a thinner/mineral spirits, intake cleaner.. any solvent used to degrease and wipe off the area that you're gonna paint. Then spray away in light even strokes. Couple light coats and no more dot matrix.
BTW, make SURE to use *FLAT BLACK* paint so it matches. I used semi-gloss, satin paint. Its not a %100 match. BBQ flat black will work best.
