I am beyond confused....
So here is what i am planning on doing though i am confused about a few things....
Washing Car --> Drying Car ---> Claying Car + Using clay lub --> Pre-Wax Cleaner ---> Wax car
Alright so here is what i am confused about where does the Polish come in in all of this? Whats Polishing? whats the Different between Polishing and Wax? This car is 10 years old its a 98 sunfire paint isnt to bad though i need to clay to remove contamients i know are there.
Do i polish first then wax? or do i wax then polish? someone please jump in and explain?
if i am Claying and then waxing do i even need to polish? whats the point of polishing? i been looking for a complete detailed info about this stuff online but i can only find bits and peices.
So if i am planning on claying my car what would be the next steps after?
check out meguiars online forums. tons of info in the FAQ. if i wasnt about to crash, i would check it out and grab a link.
polish is abrasive, polishing a car basically cuts a very very small layer off the top of the paint. The point of polishing is ki nda like sanding something, when you work it down you get rid of high and low spots, flaten out surface scratches etc..
When I do my car I do Wash, dry, claybar, Mothers scratch remover, mothers stage 1, mothers stage 2, mothers stage 3.
I don't let my cars get messed up enough to really need a good polishing but when I did the girlfriends car I took it to the local detail shop and them go over the whole car with the high speed buffer with medium cut polish fallowed by fine cut polish (12 year old car) Its easy to F up a car with a high speed buffer and polish but thats the right way to do it
I,ve been detaling cars 4 over 10 years and every full detail i do I clay the car while i wash it then compound(if needed) polish then wax
