So I've been looking on RK Sport's website at the carbon fiber replacement taillight kit for the 03-05 cavalier. In order to do this conversion do I have to get a trunk off a -02 cavalier?
no you would not the cf piece just sticks on with 3m tape you can use it like i did with mine all you will need is different taililghts since the 03-05 inners are connected to the light bar
But after pulling off the one piece tail light will I have a slot to put in the older style inner tail light??
the trunk lids are the same, the newer ones just have extra holes for the posts of the taillight bar to go thru.
to answer your question, yes. and if you're getting the c/f filler, the holes should not be an issue
Should I get the filler before putting on the carbon fiber replacement?
maybe filling out your profile and reading the stickys would be a start. what year car are you trying to do this on? you dont give any information at all.
I figure the subject would tell you enough.
if you get an 95-02 trunk lid....you dont need the CF filler.
if you are going to keep your 03+ truck, but are switching taillights to the 95-02 style, then you need the cf filler.
If you are trying to KEEP your 03+ lights, there are several threads about painting the rear.

the subject tells you nothing. what are you trying to do? what year is your car? are you trying to put on the 03-05 style cf tails with the center piece or are you trying to get 95-02 tails with the cf insert for the 03-05 lid?
