Side GFX with double sided adhesive

Im putting the rocker panel ground effects from a Z24 onto my base model. Instead of drilling holes in my rockers for the plastic push in retainers can I just use some quality double sided tape adhesive to attach them? I will still use the screws front and rear but I dont wanna drill and open up a place for more corrosion to occur. So what do you think? Will it work and if so what brand of tape should I use?

drilling is going to give you a better longer lasting hold, but 3m tape works good.
