H.I.D Kits which ones????
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 6:59 PM
Ok so i jumped on ebay to find a decent priced HID kit for my cavi but everything i found kinda looked cheap and sketchy! And i am confused on the color scheme. Also alot of the feed back on those kits said they would burn out very fast. So i was wondering if anybody can help me out finding good source, i live in boise idaho i dont know if that helps. And the color i am looking for is the color that you see on the caddy's Beamers and all the high end cars and i dont know that the color is called.

my lexus comes stock with 4300k hids which is the typical hid stock bulb. the 4300k is the ones with the best light output. the higher the number you go, the worse your light output is. i wouldnt go over 8k which is pretty much blue. 6k is a bluish white color.

Anything under 150 dollars is the same chineese stuff... plus with a kit your chancing it either way. So yes that 56$ kit is the same as those 150 kits.. just fancier packaging.

4100-4300K bulbs are what you want.

6000K should be the highest you go.

Search "HIDcrashcourse"... it will help you.

personally i would love to have HID's but im NOT putting projectors in my headlights and at the same time i dont want to blind people so im torn...

honestly i think my low beam output is just fine, its my high beams that suck balls (streetglow xenon hologens). is there a special version you need for high beams?

also... are there any companies that make HID fog light kits for our cars? i would definitely buy a set of those, that way i can turn them on or off and not blind people.

failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

what bulb is in the factory fogs? I know they make a mini H3 bulb kit for fogs. Also, with the scatter glass in the 95-99 headlights, there would be reduced glare towards oncoming cars they probably do make one for the high beam as well. I dont know what bulb numbers you use off the top of my head.

i bought the silver star ultras and they are great. low beams are good and the highs are amazing. if you dont want to blind people that will work and they are only $50

silverstars have the shortest bulb life on the market today.

so your $50 will have to be spent 10 times before 1 HID bulb would go out.

not worth it IMO.

brad check out xenondepot they sell hid fog kits

john, i never had a problem with my silverstars. i had them in my car for about 7 years and my gfs brother still drives my car with the same bulbs and they still work.

huh, even on sylvania's sight, it said the silverstars had low life span, and I had put several sets in cars when I worked at pepboyz, and they too seemed to burn out prematurely.

Of course, they may have changed when they went to the "ultras"

Oh, and I also like retro-solutions kits as well.

eYeah i have the silverstars as well and i have had them in my truck for about a year and in my cavalier for about four now i love them, but i must say i really do love the output and look for the xenon HID's and i have been looking for a while. So you guys are saying that the cheap ones might do ok then? Also does it matter if i have the scatter glass headlights, will that reduce projection?

no we are saying the cheap kits ARE NOT ok, spend the money on good ones, with good electronics, and good warranties....and good install kits (relay harnesses, etc.)

Scatter lenses will affect output somewhat, but it will be less harsh for oncoming drivers.
