BUMP
searched... but couldnt find the same kit im looking at.... from what it looks like, they might not be bad..
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
i checked them out for my 02 i have been debating whether or not to buy them
Firstly, it's e-Bay. See what similar priced kits from reputable companies are going for, and if the e-Bay price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Secondly, it says Cavalier, and that's fine and all... Except they show a picture of every conceivable car make and model except for the Chevrolet Cavalier.
Thirdly, what year is your car? Notice it says 88-94, so even if all of the above were fine, don't expect to buy those and have them work perfectly on an '02.
I've got no experience with door hinges or anything to that effect, and I'm not even that great with eBay, but at least keep yourselves from getting screwed, and just make sure you do your homework before buying.

why not spend the extra $200 for a reliable set from MMS? at least you're getting piece of mind that thousands have used them and are direct bolt on...not to mention a JBO supporting company.
but who am i kidding....99.9% of J-body owners will cheap out instead of doing it the right way the first time around
Well, my car is an 89 sunbird, and it said sunbird/cavalier, so i think it should be ok... from the feedback, they seem to be pretty good, i mean, i would think if they were crap they would have alot worse feedback.... some didnt directly bolt up, but for $300, ill do some work to get them to fit lol... mainly concerned about quality of struts and hindges...

very reliable, very good quality, absolute direct bolt on.
Get a good brand name with Lambo's. you don't want issues later down the road

BTW: This is my Sig.
Its not about name brand. Its just a direct bolt on hinge! You either bolt it on right or not.
Its the shocks you want to make sure you take care of. When your shocks go out, is when your screwed!
thanks, im gonna order a set prolly within the next couple days, i'll let u know how i make out with them

please do because i have tried to install two kits off e-bay and they have total shait for fitments. The doors did not sit right because it seemed the hinges were out of alignment no matter how much we adjusted them, we decided to take them off and my buddies sent them back to the company and fought hard to get their money back.

its completely about brand name, reputable names mean great quality! The reason it is a reputable name is because they have a product that is engineered correctly and has no issues, many of these kits on e-bay are going for cheap because the metal is usually of a lower grade and painted over and/or the hinges are half arssed most of the time and they don't have a slight chance in hell of fitting without basically rebuilding the whole bracket.

it certainly is about name brand. Name brand products fit like they are supposed to...in this case a direct bolt on. non-name brands usually dont and are not direct bolt ons..and for lambos usually weld on.
how many non-name brand companies do you know of that actually do extensive R&D on their products?

x2. thats why mms has had 3 gp's for his hinges. BRAND NAME. sorry but if it didnt matter about the name then everybody would get ebay kits and it would be all good. you get what you pay for. in this case. mms hinges are great. goin on 2 1/2 years with mine and replaced a shock because of it just being a manufacturer problem.
I NEED a 97-99 LD9 engine harness for an auto.PM if u hav info.!!
To each their own... I have the cheesie universal direct bolt on kit. Got them installed in 05 and just receintly removed the hinges two weeks ago. Worked just fine.
I found this thread on a search and I'd like to resurrect this thread for a minute so please humor me.
I'm wondering who has the most mileage on a set of these doors. I'm willing to pay but I need OEM quality and longetivity. My 'O5 is approaching 140K miles so as you can tell I'm in and out of this car much more than average.
I like the Scissor-door.com site and like what they had to say but how do they hold up to daily use?
MMS doors have been mentioned in quite a few threads but nothing on longetivity? Who has had the MMS hinges the longest and how have they held up?
What about the shocks? How do they hold up?
I'm an ebay freak and that stuff makes me sick to look at so that's not even an option.
i got mine from the first gp back in 05? anyway i had them for going on 3 years or so. on a daily driver and didnt ever have a problem other than a strut blowing on me on my pass side(which didnt really get used) it was a manufacture defect. after i replaced it joe at mms re did the end of the strut shocks and made them thicker. i just sold mine a few weeks ago and still worked perfectly fine.

Thanks Rick. 3 years on a DD for MMS. Anyone else with info on Sissor-door or am I buying MMS?
i have talked to alot of ppl when the mms lambo had there gp and there was a lot of good feed back, there was one that had there kit for 6 years and replaced the driver shock once cause they used that door all the time, i'll be ordering a set after x-mas for my car.
