How do you take out those little hazard lights that are on the back bumper of a Sunfire GT?

trade me hoods and "kits" and i'll tell you...actually do it for you!

lol

no sure how different they are from my bumper (SE) but there is a screw on each one. all i have to do is take the screw out and it wiggles out. if you dont have a screw that you can see on the outside on the lense then my next guess would be youd have to get to the inside of the bumper.

there, can i have your hood, bumpers and sides please? thanks

Haha. You've always wanted my hood and bumper, there isn't a screw in the light itself, it just looks like it's glued or something.

I'm really puzzled... which lights are you looking at???

On the back of my GT bumper there are the two reverse lights.... then on the sides of the bumper there are the two running lights....

^ Lito has a '95-'99 GT. You have a '00-'02 GT .

Lito, have you stuck your hand up under the bumper and felt by the backs of the lights? I'm guessing there's a screw or something holding them on on the backside of the bumper. Or, I suppose they could be held on with double sided tape since they're just reflectors? I'm not sure as I don't have experience with a '95-'99 GT rear bumper, but I figured I'd throw those couple ideas out there for you to investigate.

on the SE rear they are acutally lights... so im going to guess you'll have to investigate a bit... crawl under and look or maybe use a mirror to see what the back of the light looks like.

Wow I never knew the 95-99's actually had lights.... I thought those were just reflectors... I don't think I've ever seen any that are working then haha

a 95-99 se has side marker lights on the bumper that is on the sides. These light up and has a star screw on the end you have to take out. Then the have reflectors on the back of the bumper. Lito correct me if i'm wrong but i'm positive the gt's have these reflectors and that is what your talking about. If so there is nuts on the back of the reflectors. You will either have to take and pull out the plastic push pin things. Out of the bottom and see if you can get up there to the nuts. If not you have to take the whole rear bumper off.

But why do you want to take them out to paint them or tint them? If so i painted my reflectors black to match the car with them still in. I just went tape crazy on the back bumper to protect it from over spay. I then used a 3m pad to sand them then cleaned them and painted. I also paint the side ones black but i took them out.

Geeze sorry lito about that post. Didn't realize it never really made sense and the spelling was so bad. I guess that's what you get for posting half asleep. Any way let me clear it up a little bit. On the back bumper on the bottom there is those annoying black plastic push pin things. Not sure of the name, but you should know what i'm talking about. Any way you would have to take those out and maybe unloosen the bumper to get to the nuts on the reflectors. But i'm also not to sure if you can even get to them that way. You might have to take the whole bumper off.

YOur best bet if wanting to paint them. Is take some good masking tape. Like 3m and push it in around the gap between the reflector and bumper. Sticking it to the bumper. Then take and run tape over that so you don't have to worry about it lifting loose from the bumper. Then take and put tape atleast 12in's from all the sides of the reflector. Take one of the red 3m pads used for sanding primer and prepping bumpers where a sander wouldn't fit . Scuff them up real good and paint them how ever you desire. But if using a spray gun make sure to use a small one that is use for door jams and such.

I never cleared mine either. I used some kind of spray paint from car/quest that is like $7.00 a can. The same stuff i use to paint my engine compartment after my motor swap. But what ever it is has a shine and depth just like our factory paint jobs. Any way the reflectors turned out looking like the were never painted. I mean there black and all but they still have the shine line they did before paint. More less looks just like our filler panels but actually matches the paint on the car.
