thats your quarter panel...... and thats alot of work to replace. Its not like it can just be unbolted

exactly. theres a TON of spot welds to be drilled out. its gonna be a pain in the ass. have fun welding it back in. and MAKE SURE ITS STREIGHT before you start welding. close thetrunk. make sure the trunk lines up. close the door. make sure the door lines up. if you have to. prefit the bumper also. .as stated its a LOT of work. and as for finding one. you can find one from the junkyard. have them cut it where you think your going to section it in. i do suggest sectioning it in the sail panel area seing as how the roof overlaps the quarter.and youwill most likely mess up the roof trying to getthe spot welds out of that area.also. youcan get the whole panel from GM if need be. i dont think there to horribly expensive (250 bucks)

my question is why did you drill holes to pull a dent?? i can understand if the panle is goin to be replaced thats fine, but this looks like its fixable all day long, and if my memory serves me correct there should be enough room from the inside of the 1/4 to work out the dent, and if not there are spot welding guns that wled a nail to the metal and its pulled out with a dent puller

you may as well finish it now if your boss is tellin you you can finish well your @!#$, but i would fix it, and bondo doesnt stick to sanded paint it needs a grinder to stick clean metal, replacing a 1/4 is no easy task like that dude said, glass has to be removed, all parts removed, allot of spot welds, ya need either a spot weld removing bit or a unibit to drill them all out, plus dont forget all the caulk around the seams gotta go, the panle bond has to be removed its holding the 1/4 on too

and by the looks of what iam seeing, your asking what this pannle is, 2. you drilled holes in a fixable panle, 3. looks like you dont knnow what your doing so your @!#$

can i haz bondo

Hey Kyle, I thought i woul help you out and give you an Honest answer.

With me being a certified welder i have ran into this twice before. The first time was with my old 1993 Sunbird and i replaced the quarter panel the way GM would do it by drilling out the spot welds. It was a little bit of trouble but i was up to the challenge. Believe me it isn't as hard as some might think. I purchased a brand new quarter panel from GM for around $240.

The second time was with my 1996 Cavalier that i currently have. but this time i got a really good quarter panel from a junk yard for $100, the junk yard actually cut up the whole quarter of a car for me.LOL. Either way i still did it the same way i did it before. With doing it this way it does kinda help if you have an extra person helping. BTW I'd like to thank my Dad (J.R. which is name on here.)

Now since you have a 4door I'm not sure how much it will run you for a New or used quarter panel, but i thought i would give you a rough estimate on what it will run.

Ok here are some pics of what I've done.

This is the 93 Sunbird

I don't know if you can tell but this is the only pic of the bird with the new quarter.

And here is the work i have done on my 96 Cavalier.

That pic is perfect. I have a self inflicted dent right where the two little openings to the interior are (about halfway down the door)

i didnt know if it would have been easyier to do it that way i was just looking for advice but there is no way i would try and tune this thing.btw here is an updated pic and its bout half done should have whole car painted this weekend with damage fixed.

Did you weld a piece of metal over your dent? LOL You hack. You did'nt have to. All you had to do was work the metal out some more and then mud it up. You still have to do more body work and now you just made more work for yourself. It's not that it's a beater thing, you could have gotten away with alot less work.

you said it your self your not a bodyman/painter/ your a fabricator/welder, we bodymen are fabricators, welders, painters, mechanics, we do everything, so once again your asking for help i gave you my advice of a 20yr journeyman, i know what i would have done you went the route of the butcher, sorry but its what i see
let the guys who do this trade for a living give you advice if ya cant take it then dont post stupid questions here and except a response when you respond in a manor that makes you look like a know it all when your not

Doors on a 4 door are all the same from 95 - 04 or whatever year they stopped producing cavs and sunfires.
