I hooked my fog lights up today. I have them wired into my headlights, so that they will come on when the head lights do without needing a switch. So they DO work, but when they are grounded they stay on all the time, even when the cav is off. So my question is what the hell did I do wrong? I dont want to kill my battery.
Please someone? I searched and came up with nothing.
Someone has to know whats happneing, you guys know everything about these cars.
if you spliced into factory fogs at all they are a pain and idk. but wat i did is run a wire from the under hood fuse box to a relay then to the hot side of the lights. i then found a wire from the factory fog relay that was live wen i lights were on and worked with the factory swithch ( i can get the color/ local if u need) and wired that to the other side of the relay. they come on with the head lights but go off if i flip the switch. idk if that helps at all but if you want more info on how i did it pm me and i can give you some wat of a better how to
Thank you, yes I did splice into the headlights, they are aftermarket blazer fogs, and my cav does not have factory fogs.
Nevermind, I found a switch from my old s10, so im using that and it works just fine, thanks
where did you get these blazer fogs? are these the really bright fogs i see a lot of people using around here?
They're usually used with HID systems since they're projector fogs. They show up on eBay every now and then, I think the seller is papsnme
I know a few places that sell the blazer fogs, they are nice units.
The reason you were having problems with the wiring of your fogs to the headlights is that the J-body headlights arew a (-) switched system....at least the 3rd gen ones are.
Meaning you always have power to the lights, until a ground is introduced completing the circuit. By grounding the fogs, you completed the circuit, where if you put that wire to (+), they would have switched with the headlights. I hope you are using a relay in conjuntion with these, and not running the fogs and headlights off 1 wire......
If you need some more help getting these wired up properly, drop me a line and I will get back to you asap.
