i don't like how nothing is soldered... good luck keeping those connections good. I like the process but would add in soldered connections for all the wires!!!
That's crazy, Those are comparable to CCFL's!
Thats worth a try, even if not for myself just to see how it can be improved on...
I think instead of useing tape to keep the wires on the back side of the light put the black heat shrink on the ends after you wire the lights and fold the wire back keeping the wire in place on the ends, then using clear heat shrink slip that over the wire and the light then shrink that into place, will keep the wires from falling out of place unlike the tape when it drys out and gets old..
this is a pretty cool and cheap solution to eagle eyes, if I try it I could probably just wire it up to my fog lights (fog lights being seperat connection then head lights and on a switch..
this kinda gives me ideas for other applications to try it on.. Nice find..
very nice find! wish i had time to play around with that. i guess i'll have to finish my current projects so i can.
I found a ton of stuff on that website. Most definitely worth giving it a look-see
That is incredible! I may try this.
very nice. after doing evil eyes on my fire i may hav to try this. i think it would amazing with the evil eyes
ive seen something very similair to this when angel eyes first came out
I may be giving this a try in the next few days or on the weekend if I have the time..
I made a stop at home depot today after work and the employee in the blinds dept hooked me up with a 4 clear pull rods for free..told me once i got up the register with my other items if anyone asked the employee gave them to me becuase I didnt get any in the sets I bought (the rods were extras from the custom jobs they do) you can try the same thing if ya want, just go back to that dept and tell them you bought blinds and the rods didnt come with...
if ya dont get any of the extras free they have replacements for 3.00 a pair.
leds (ultra bright white) at radio shack only cost 2.00 a pack/pair
heat shrink is 2. at radio shack aswell..
That video is like 100 years old, but very informative for a beginner who's never done anything like that before. Not very bright, but an inexpensive way to start and improve. I've made many variations of them, but found that the "more or tighter" bends you make, the harder it is for the light to get around. I would suggest fooling around with different types of backing material and different ways to project the light out of the rod. However, not too bad for "budget build".
i used the same process when i did my retrofit, but it wasnt bright enough for me so i went with ccfls

If you have a 95-99 what is wrong with the 1-Piece available to us?
Now if your trying to be a one-of, go for it i've seen some great custom jobs here too.

ive wanted a pair of those for a while, but the problem is I dont have the 150+ in most cases to justify just getting them..but I do like the way the one peice lights work,..
Yeah, prices have dropped dramatically I purchased them right when they came out I believe I paid $230.00 when they first came out.
