thanks
Here is a pic of mine..You can still buy VHT at MOPAC..They are in langley..I think I still have a can..And I used no clear coat on them..
can't get it here are there any alternatives
you could always order it online and have it shipped.
or are you looking for an alternative that isnt nightshades? either way, if it isn't legal, another alternative will also not be legal.
as far as alternatives, the only other option might be the black(tinted) plastic tail covers. at least if you got pulled over you could show they are removable.

The only resone why lordco does not sell it anymore is because there is no french writing on it..So thats what I have been told...Call Mopac Auto supplies,They should be able to ship you a can...http://www.mopacautosupply.com/
I'm in Nova Scotia, I am able to get it, lots of shops around here stock it in fact.
Got mine from a local body shop and I think they went thru Keystone as well.
I can think of 4 places within 15mins of my house that have it in stock......
yeah i got some at performance improvment in barrie ont. so far havent had a problem here put two coats on
jessus how come i can never find it.i assumed no no in canada as they state they will not ship to canada.i gotta look harder i gues
i bout mine at capital auto in charlottetown. also try eastern auto
^^^ thasnks much island eco i have been havin an awful time findin this stuff.i mwill go there next time i am in charlottetown
Ive been looking around the site for an actual how to on either painting or tinting tails.. I havent found one, I have found a hand full of thread of those who have done it and all seem to have various opinions on how they did it or how others would have..
not trying to jack the thread by asking, but I felt it in the right place to ask since it is discussing tinting..
when you either paint or tint your tails some mention wet sanding
all the stuff I have read through pretty much adds up to these steps (correct me if im wrong, its why im asking..dont wanna f this up..)
take out tails..
rubbing alcohol to wipe down tails to clean..
sand with (what grit?) xx the area you want to paint or tint..
light coat of tint or paint..
sand between coats with higher grit (?)
another coat tint or paint...
sand..
coat..
sand...
clear coat?
rubbing compound ?
buff? (by hand or with buffing wheel or rotory tool buffer?
or is there a how to I missed??? its late and im tired so its possible..sorry in advance if there is
i just cleaned it and sprayed waited till it was dry and light spray again, didnt even take the tails out just taped em off ( i hate taking those fcuking things out) that was it.
now you can add a clear coat and then high grit wet sand clear wet sand and polishing compund but im lazy and this looks good neways lol
i put three coats on the 3rd brake light and that is DARK but two light coats should do nicely
I really dig the way the tails come out..looks nice on the cars shown in the thread so far... Im gonna look around for the spray in the next few days but will probably hold off untill the temp warms up a bit before giveing it a try...tomarrow while at the yard ill grab an extra set of tails..
Ok here is how to do it..First Take light out of car,Then tape any area that you dont want painted with tape,Use wax and grease remover.Spray about 2 to 3 coats depending on how dark you want it,As it dries it will go darker,Once it has dried use a fine grain cut polish,And by hand start to polish the lens,By doing it this way you remove the grain look that will be left by panting it,U will not need to clear coat it.It takes more time but the out come looks really good if you spend the time to do it..
I just went with 2 coats on mine. Its pretty dark, but you can still see the brake lights good.
I'm not from canada... but heres mine anyway
3 coats of niteshades, 2 coats of clear... no sanding.

ok here is a close up..NO Sanding And No Clear,2 coats of VHT,And poilishing with A fine cut compound by hand.
thats damn nice.... the more I look at this thread and the pics on the site the more I really really like the look.. went to a autoparts place down the rd from me today and asked if they had it. the guy never heard of it but they carry vht paints..told me his sales man is in tomarrow and he will order a few cans that will be in on tuesday..
11 dollers.. since the weather is $#!7 right now and snowing, i probably wont get around to doing this for a little while..unless I stop being lazy and pull the lights and do it in the basement...if I do it..ill take and post pics of the steps and then everyone can laugh at how horrible they came out..lol.
If you follow what I posted they should look great..Makes sure when painting it is warm..I painted mine outside..let them sit in the sun for 1 hour,It was 25 degrees C ,Then sprayed them, waited another hour or so for drying, then went and started to polish..
Jason, your tails look great!
also, since alot of people are having a hard time finding it, I ordered mine from
