Hi everyone,
I got a broken (aprox. 2 in hole) brake fluid reservoir (or tank or whatever you wanna call it). I have been too lazy to look around my local junkyards for one, but I was thinking if it would be possible to fiberglass this reservoir, the one that holds the antifreezer and so on. I dont want to replace it with a fiberglass one just cover it will fiberglass and paint it really nice.
I have no experience whatsoever with fiberglass but Im willing to start learning with other small projects before I try this. My doubt is: will fiberglass resist the temperature under the hood or will it crack, explode or whatever?
Thanks in advance

Do you mean the brake fluid reservoir or the coolant reservoir?
For coolant reservoir, first off the tank is plastic.. You don't fiberglass plastic.. Second that fluid reservoir can't be repaired.. not properly because first off you can't get to the backside to weld or apply repair material, secondly the repair can't even be warrantied due to the tank holds pressure.. Therefore your only method is to replace it.
Now some may come in here saying you can repair it blah blah.. but the truth is
you can't and are not supposed to.

I feel like such an idiot about fiberglssing plastic lol. Thanks for ur answer!
I went to autozone to look for the brake fluid reservoir they told me they didnt sell them but they had something to repair tanks and told me not to worry that the brake fluid reservoir was not pressured... I guess they lied!
I will go to a junkyard to look for one.
thanks!

the brake fluid resivoir is NOT pressurized. Manta was refering to the coolant tank which IS presurised....since you mentioned BOTH in your origional post.
If something is damaged, replace it. Brake fluid is very caustic. it will eat through damn near anything. The coolant resivior is pressurised....I wouldnt repair that either.
If looking to dress them up, look into RK sprot's CF covers.
yeah look around your local yard, you can find both peices your looking for for under 10 dollers.. most yards around me charge about 3-5 dollers for stuff like that..
I love u-pull it yards...
