Polishing enamel
Sunday, December 28, 2008 10:51 AM
I just painted my round track race car with enamel paint. I believe I need to polish this to bring out somemore shine. What should I use?? I have a buffer but dont know what type polish to use. And how long should I let the car cure before polishing it??? Any advice??? Thanks in advance for all answers...

I like to use 3M Perfect-It II Rubbing compound and polishing compound. I usually use a wool pad with the rubbing compound and a foam pad for the polishing compound. I do like the waffle pattern foam pads for final polish.
I like these pads...

because they center nicely and it's quite difficult to end up touching the paint with the backing plate. I use #1 and #2.

I've never polished enamel but I would imagine that 10 days is enough time. Not positive though.
And I just looked it up on google and it was saying you cant polish enamel. So i'm not too sure.
