FEELER- Projector RetroFit

I was wondering if there is any interest in a projector retrofit for the sunfires and cavaliers. I know that you can buy the cavalier projector headlights on e-bay but those really are not the greatest quality. Also I know there is only one other person that sells them for the sunfires, IZNTRBL and they are not great on producing them in a decent amount of time. So I am putting up a feeler. They would be BI-Xenon projectors from a E55 Benz, wiring harness, D2S bulbs-Real HID's not rebased, HID ballast and shipped for around $500.

Here are some cars I have done in the past.

Good Luck,
I am currently running a GP that includes custom retros, or will shortly at least...

From talking to everyone on here, I realize that very few people want to drop high dollars for retro's.

Especially using a projector that is not "top of the line".

I would like to see more work of yours, but looking at the examples posted, I cant say I am a huge fan. The 1st one (looks like Jeep Compass??) there is no bezel, and the Lumina ones, the bezels look kind of cheap/cheesy. So some more pictures would only help you out.

Good luck, but know that J-owners are notoriously cheap.

Well, thats why its a feeler. No harm done. The first is a FJ. E55 projectors are not junk by anymeans though. Like you said I think this crowd is more geared towards how the car performs rather then how it looks.

im not of the E55's they arent as bright as the FX35. and FYI E55's are a BAD idea for the cavalier 00-02. as they are to deep. they barely fit in my cav. youd be better off with FX35 retros

Cool, cool. Well in that case a FX35 Projector. I like the E55 as they are made by hella and have a full steel casing. Alot of OEM's use plastic.

I'd be up for it, but I'll worry about my lighting issues after I get the motor in.

Ah, FJ, I see it now.

I think you will find plenty of people here that ARE concerned about the exterior appearance, just as much if not more than performance. I would agree that along with the diminished output of the Hella projectors, the size concerns are also great. The infinity projectors I use are also an all metal construction, as well as having some of the best output on the market.

Im not saying the Hella units are bad, just not what I would use.

Good luck anyways, and I would still like to see more pics.

i seem to recall i hack job to a 350z, some kid (lack of experience, thus the statement kid) went through a body shop to get a lip kit put on, dirt cheap, got the car back, and it was trashed... more than you could imagine from just putting on a lip kit.

I dont have many more pics, as part my computer crashed about a year ago with all the headlights on them, and the other is I do these for family members mostly. I actually like to use hella 90MM with a magnesium housing. That is what I used in my lumina. They are the same projectors as a sleen s7, so yeah there pretty good quality. The E55 projectors are not the best, but they are a decent BI-Xenon projector.

yes. j people usually are cheap, they want the best things imagineable for under $500, no matter what it is. thats why its so hard for a company to make a product for our car because everyone things its over priced and not worth it. when quality is whats important there is a select few that pay the price and get it.

I don't think the J-crowed is cheap at all honestly. I belong to a few other forums, especially the lumina crowd where you cant get them to pay $400 for a 13" PBR aluminum dual piston caliper. But hey thats just them. This crowd is not CHEAP, just bargain hunters, and I can admire that. They want a little extra for a little less sometimes, no problems with that at all.

LOL, not ALL of us are cheap...this is coming from the guy who has as much into his motor as the origional purchase price of the car.....

I see this thread starting to go off topic a bit. If there is interest in a decently priced retro, please put your name down.

They look exactly like something coming out of LYZN DRBL (same technique, same look, very plane and trimmed with plumbing fittings).......Can't someone do something more original???

Wow those look great on the z34! I wouldn't mind a set for my Beretta. In fact, I'd prefer it over the standard e36 swap, as the headlight gaps always bother me.

I have seen a good amount of people that are interested in retros, but they do add up quickly especially if you want the good quality parts, FX as a bi is a good choice, just depends how much they want done, 500 is pretty low end and a majority do not want to spend the money a high quality retro costs.

My g35 quad setup is going to probably be around 1500 in the end.
