its better off to get a spoilerless trunk at the local junk yard cause the holes that will be left over from where the spoiler is bolted in.
Open the trunk, look under the lid, and unbolt, should fall right off.
But as stated you should get a trunk lid from a older Cavalier so you won't have any holes in it at all. That or replace with a 00-02 Z24 spoiler is always nice.
get a spoilerless trunk from any 95-02 cavalier... it will be much easier for you, and if you ever sell the car, you could put the old one back if you'd like.

lol bondo over holes. let me know how it works.
bondo is a cheap cheap body filler and not a good one at that. if done right you would need very little body filler if you have someone welded the holes closed. adding any filler to fill in a hole will eventually crack and fall out over time do to the temp changes year round.
That's why I would suggest getting a different lid if possible. That's what I did for my cavy trunk swap, but mine only cost me $50 for EVERYTHING, trunklid, lights, latch ETC and it was the right color, mint condition. If you can get lucky and find a lid for cheap, it's probably the right way to go in the long run. Just my $.02

i picked mine up at the local yard for 30 bucks with everything but lights
have the trunk lock filled to while ur at it , looks alot cleaner. i did go spoilerless for a while but as Scott(Furious 2.2) knows that changed when i found a dodge neon spoiler. it looks good man .
i use Bondo and ive never had any problems with the stuff.

you would have been better off locating 95-02 trunk lid w/out spoiler and repainting.....Bondo is not going to hold dude....Be proactive and get it done right.
its actually holding just fine, didnt just bondo all that helps when you weild plates behind the holes : ) actually turned just fine after paint an all the body work : |
