patching hole in door panel
Sunday, February 15, 2009 9:04 PM
I recently came across a set of new door panels for my car. The problem is that my car has manual windows, and the door panels are for a car with automatic windows. Is there a way I can fill up the hole where the switch is and make it seamless to the rest of the door panel? I want it to look as if there was never a hole there. I have a few ideas, but not sure if they would work. I thought about cutting a piece out of a junk door panel to fill in the hole and get a heat gun after it to melt the edges together. Another idea was to fill it with some plastic epoxy and paint it with some textured paint. Also, I could separate the door panel and use the top of mine and the bottom of the new one (both the same color), but then I would risk damaging them and not being able to get them back together. I don't really have any confidence in either one of those ideas at the time though. I searched, but didn't really find anything useful. I would like to put some tweeters there, but don't want to spend the money on a decent set right now. If anyone has any ideas or experience with this, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I just realized that I posted this in the wrong forum. If a mod could move this to interior, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Are you sure that is not the switch for power locks, my switches for the windows are in the console?

you are not going to be able to make it "seamless" unless you planned to fiberglass over that part of the door panel, or something similar.

I would recomend either converting this to power locks, or adding your tweeters now (you can always upgrade the tweeters later.....)

Yea, that's pretty much what I figured, but I was hoping someone on here had done something similar and had some tips for me or something.

I guess you're right, I didn't realize the hole was for the power lock switch instead of the power window switch. That is actually something I think I could tackle. If I can't find a decent set of tweeters soon, I may just put in some power locks. Thanks guys.
