Problem With HID lights
Sunday, February 15, 2009 6:25 PM
I bought a ignited 8000k HID conversion kit had it for a 1 week, my drls are disabled using the sticky procedure, so today i was driving my lights were off and then out of no where they turned on and stayed on, so i was like wtf my drls are disabled my light switch is in the off position so why the hell are they on? So then i turned the switch to have all lights on so then i came home and turned the switch off and they shut off.
So I tried to see what was wrong with them, i turned the switch on they were on, so i turn the switch off and they were stuck on again, i used my multimeter and from the stock harness i was getting full 12 volts coming out when the switch was off. After all of this now one of my ballasts doesn't work, i tried switching the ballasts from right to left and one still doesn't work. Why would that be? why is there voltage coming out when the switch is off??

did i just pass something? ahhh its only honda

it is a ground switch, it is supposed to have voltage.....which is probably what messed up the ballast. Get a relay harness capable of handling the (-) switched system.

lights being on mean the relay is closed ... could be salt getting into it and causing a problem. could also be salt or moisture in the plug.
does the harness have power on the right pins? mine still had voltage (on the wrong pins) and it was a burnt out headlight fuse.
ballasts can be killed easily by cycling off and on rapidly

im assuming that this one did hold some charge and the case is metal so i guess it discharged into the chassis and most likely how the ballast went dead, thanks for the replies guys
