Ok so I tinted my tail lights yesterday, they look not too bad. The filler piece that goes across the trunk lid and holds the license plate, I'm taking to the body shop tomorrow. The idea being, I want to freshen up the look of it and no longer have the word Pontiac on the back. I'm having a hard time deciding on which direction to go with it. Satin black, gloss black, or painted white to match the car. I think all 3 choices would look good. Painted black would kind of be reminiscent of the early 90's sunbird gt's which would be cool, but all white may give the car an even cleaner look. I don't know, I need help!!!
This pic was taken before I tinted the lights!
This is kind of a visual of the filler panel being white
I vote for white!
If you decide to do white, make sure they put down a couple layers of black paint first so that the PONTIAC doesn't light up anymore. They didn't do that with the one on my GT and you could see the light shining through the paint at night. Not a lot, but enough to be noticeable. It annoyed the hell out of me.
look at an 03+ filler panel...they are color matched....mine is white...lemme find a pic.
best one i could find here at work....hope it helps
White FTW

couldn't you just cut the power to the light?

No, because it's the license plate lights that also light up the PONTIAC on the trunk panel.
Okay kind of a thread jack here.
I have went through the section for swappable parts on our J-bodies but am confused with the Sunfires.
So what would I need to do to swap just the trunk filler panel from and 03-05 Sunfire onto my 02 Sunfire?

You would need the '03-'05 Sunfire trunk panel, taillights and rear bumper.
I will for sure get pics up as soon as I can, apparently the panel will be ready tomorrow afternoon. Im excited! Now I just have to find a body shop that will fill the holes on my trunk lid. Nobody seems to want to do it. The shops I have been to keep telling me the metal is too thin to weld but the majority of spoilerless fires on the org have been welded up right? The shop I have been using for a while now said it would be atleast 800 bucks just to weld the holes plus whatever it costs to paint it. Haha oh I guess I kinda went off topic there, just had to vent my frustrations a little bit! Anyways, pics soon!

You sure that I would need the newer bumper too, I want to keep the 02, doesnt the little filler underneath the tail lights make up for the difference

Those body shops are full of $hit! I paid $350 a few years ago to have the trunk lid on my GT shaved and my door handles painted. They can do it, they just don't want to do it.

Yes, I'm sure you need the bumper too. The '03-'05 bumper is completely different from the '00-'02 bumper.
I'd vote black

Yes you would need both the 03 tails and bumper to work with the new trunk filler.
