I don't know if that's what you would call them, but i was wandering what my plan is is going to work or is it just a big fail!!!!! Well i got two hydraulic pump thingys out of a vw jetta's engine compartment, because I'm sick of my hood holder gettting in the way. But i was thinking that i could put these things in like in a jetta on each side. Is it possible or is it just a dream? i mean yeah everything is possible but I really don't want to mess up my hood on my car. THanks

yes, people have used gas charged lift supports on our cars before. it can get involved, the angle at which the supports are at is very crucial. too steep and you'll dent or bend the hood trying to close it, too shallow and the hood won't stay up.

There is a KIT you can buy, I got mine for $60, they are Gas Shocks and install with a few drilled holes and a Rivet gun.
Redline Tuning I think is the brand.
I think they have some on eBay now and then.
The price is Higher, but mine were part of a Group Purchase and they have Free shipping. Also if it helps, I've had these for about 5years I'd say, they work great to this day.

verts have gas supports for the trunks, all you need is the hinges and plates off a vert.
