Hey!
I have a 1997 Sunfire SE vert. My question is about a little rubber piece of weatherstripping that runs under where the convertible top and rear quarter window meet. I just finished putting a new top on this car, and am about to register and drive it. I have kept the car garaged, and I am not sure where rain is supposed to go when it collects inside this rubber piece shown in the pictures at the link below. I assume water is supposed to collect inside the rubber strip and go toward front of car, draining between the body panels. I can't see anywhere else it is supposed to go, but I am not sure since this is my first convertible J and my first attempt at putting on a convertible top. I wanted to check here first instead of washing the car and possibly figuring things out the hard way. I read the Convertible Top Water Leak Repair .pdf file posted on the .org, but didn't find any good points of reference for this situation. Picture number 8 shows this piece the best (it has a circular cutout near the middle of it). Vert owners, please chime in!

The seals are the easiest to put on versus the top its self, the water should run towards the rear of the car from the point you mentioned.

So does that mean I have them in the right location?

i cant tell from the pics, but it looks like youve got it in there wrong. the seal is open on one end, right? that end should be towards the back, i believe, with the closed end at the front. at least thats how i remember it being....its been a year since ive looked at my top though so i cant be 100% sure
Yeah, it's open on one end, closed on the other. I guess I will switch each seal to the opposite side so that the open end is toward the rear, and water will drain towards the rear of the car instead.
