my sister just finally got her 96 ls vert, and the drivers side mirror def doesn't look like it was the original one. are there different mirrors for coupes and verts? and did the ls have power mirrors? the one in there now is a manual, but there looks like a wire coming out the passenger mirror when you fold it...
vert mirrors are different from coupes and sedans
and far as i've ever been aware, vert mirrors were power...
thats not a wire you see when you try to fold the mirror.. that the spring for the mirror. more then likely someone broke the stock mirror and the Original owner just replaced it with the cheaper manual mirrors from a coupe.
Mine had coupe mirrors on it when I got it and I had to replace them with 'vert mirrors because they don't have the correct contour to cover the weatherseal around the mirror itself. The edge of the 'vert mirrors have a lip on the front side that the weatherstrip tucks under/behind.
Yeah vert mirrors are different from coupes with the lack of a door frame... Good luck finding a vert mirror in good shape...took me 3-4 months of junkyarding to find a good one....

qouted for truth... so i went ahead and got toyo mirrors lol
I bought a pair of new aftermarket 'vert (power) mirrors some time ago off eBay for under $30 each. (The manual ones are under $20.) There are more on eBay now from the same vendor. They're cheap, but they've been fine. I even painted them body color that didn't turn out bad.
yeah mine broke off totally in an auto car wash ( last time i EVER go there) needless to say im using coupe power mirros as a temporary replacement the mounting plate is smaller than the vert.
part number for vert toyota mirrors?(can i order em?...or do i have to find a car that had em?...REALLY doubt that'll happen, lol.)
they dont have toyota cavalier convertibles. you have to mod the mounting points for the mirrors on the door to fit the mirrors on. ebay and the classified on the org will be your friend when looking for the mirrors.
with the toyota ones, do they come with the switch?...cuz the guy we got the car from took out the switch when he put in the drivers manual mirror
toyota cavs a totally different switch and setup. look on ebay there is a set currently up with pics off al lthe parts
If you live in Ohio I know Kirby Auto Parts,my fav u-pull-it yard, has a cavi vert in the yard waiting to be picked apart. It's in Richwood Ohio. It's about an hour from where I am though.I'm still new to the cavaliers but it's the same body style as my 98 so I dunno what all years they made the verts but yeah it looks about the same as my 98 coupe. Any how they have 1 vert a few coupes and several sedans in there.Great prices too.I got a shift cable for $5 lol needed the car running and didn't have the $100 give or take for the dealer =/

98 Cav,2 door,5 speed,2.2L. I'll pull the stickers and repaint when I get around to it.Get off my nuts. Thanks and have a great day =]
