Ok so you all know how 03 and up cavys come with that long red tail light that spans the width of the trunk right? well I have 3 questions, can it be removed?, can I just use the two tailights instead just like 02 and lowe years?, and were could I buy some decent tail lights if not a better looking cover then just red. Ive seen a blue cav just like mine driving around my area and his looks like he replaced it with a carbon fiber version were could I find that? all answers are greatly appreciated thanks mucho!

nope you can not because ... its welded on.. and no ones ever done it..
but on a serious note... just get an older cavy trunk.. swap it over . no modifying straight bolt on. then get some older tails lights you like. here are a few pics of my old 03 cavalier
this pic shows the trunk that i stripped and primerd from a 98 teal cavalier
and this pic shows a trunk i bought off a member on here.. came from a 2000-02 silver cavalier. also matched my silver perfect
also swapped the tail lites to the 00-02 style tails with the spoiler.

yea that is very similar to what Im talkin about I just wanted to see if there were any other places I could find it cuz 299 is kinda steep hahaha and to az24ncav, I didnt know that. thanks for letting me know cuz I was lookin at mine and it has these weird red screw things holding it with like a silver hexagon bolt looking peice at the base of it and I tried to take it off and it just kinda broke into my hand and there wasnt really anything there so Im not really sure how its held on. btw I like that silver look on your cav and the lights you have is exactly what Im trying to go for! lol thanks for the info guys I appreciate it.

yeah,
the lights are indeed held on by the little plastic thing stickin out and you use a ratchet to get them suckers out easily.
But like you said, they break so easily it's ridiculous.
Theres about 12-16 of them, so it's not a big deal if you break one.
might have to use some model concrete to fix em up though.

There are 7 other than the six that are where the lights are, so basically a total of 13. They are plastic molded studs that have stamped sheet metal nuts. They aren't hard to get off as long as you are careful. I haven't had one break on me other than the ones for the original outers. One got crossed threaded and ended up taking the stud out, which is removable from the outers.
I had taken mine off already and have the carbon fiber panel on it plus a set of 2000 tail lights(Best OEM looking ones in my opinion).
