I need to touch up some little nicks in the hood and claybar and wax the car again.... but I have a bunch of little minor scratches on the car from people brushing up against it...
Anyone reccomend a good (not very invasive) poilishing coumpound and how to use it?
and anyone have good luck with a certain touch up paint?
Its a black car btw..
I have a couple like that..... (touch up paint for them)
but most are just int he clear coat that touch up wax will hide.... I was going to use the compound for them...
OK thanks... I'll prob just use my best judgment then.... I am wondering if anyone has ever found a touch up paint that actually works worth a damn though..
If you go with touch up paint your still going have to buff the touch paint to actually burn it into the paint so that its not noticable. But as for polishing i would recommend Meguliars Solo System for a complete wax and polish but its like 120 bucks. Other wise a good paste wax from any automotive store should work as long as you keep the buffer level with the body lines and go in straight lines in you can.
Can you apply polishing compound by hand?
Ya just stay in straight lines or else it'll swirl.
Ill have to try this out. I have swirls from hell. Dont know if they came from the previous owner or what. But it looks god awful at night when the light hits it.
I have some Finesse-It 2 compound that my dad had for some reason that Ive been using for my headlights and assorted things. It works pretty well.
just with the touch up paint, ive got some chips in my hood, and im wondering if theres any possible way outside of repainting the hood that i can get those gone, is there any way to do that at all?
honestly. try some color wax first. instead of drying in white, it dries in the specific color it is meant for, GREATLY reducing the appearance of those fine scratches.
