OK so here is where I stand as of now. Just got my body kit on my 03 LS sport. getting all the body molding/painting done here in about 5-6 weeks. I am removing the center section of my tails and filling it in flat and just gonna have the corner lens, as to the fact that my reverse lights do not work, and never have sense I have owned the car anyways... but also because I like the look of just the corner lens. I have a set of the aftermarket chrome euros on it.
Any who, I got this bright Idea that I want to take the tail lights apart...and Paint the chrome section...black, to match my projectors. Well as going along with how I did my headlights when I built custom projectors which are blacked out, figured what the heck same scenario put in the oven at like 240-250 for 10 mins losen the glue pry them apart.... GOOD thing I decided to test it on the stock tails....
I know they sell the black euros and the smoked but I dont really wanna buy another set just for the corner lens. so if anyone has any idea on how to get them apart... if I can, was the temp too hight? With the stock tails being, from factory figured they would be a little more solid than the aftermarket brands... so yea anything anyone can do to help will be appreciated...thanks
I've never used the oven method (nor have I torn light housings down before) but I think the temp was just too high for them. I'd figure on 100-125 degrees for starters and work up from there.
tails are a different animal from headlights......
the aftermarket ones usually use a similar sealant as the headlights do, but factory tails are pretty rough to get apart.
i think the brothers started to come apart at around 140F

Yea even after that one coming out like that, I still couldn't get it apart. Makes me REALLY scared to even attempt it with the euros at low heat, being the fact I bought them when they cost twice the price they sell for now. I just dont wanna mess them up, for sure now that I dont have a stock set to go back in them
Tint your euro tails, much better then chrome

I had euros for my car, lower year but when I put them in the oven I put them in for 10min at 250, and to heat it back up to put it back together I had it at 260.
I had no overall damage, other then the weatherstripping but that wasn't because of the oven.
I'm not going anywhere just yet

When I took my stockers apart, I did not use an oven. Just used alot of time and very gentle prying..
I took out my side reflectors, Painted side housing black, Installed L.E.D. strips for turn sigs, And a rev. light red-out. I think it looks sick, but still stock.

And the turn signals at night with only running lights on
When I took apart my old euros I didn't need an oven...I just ran a heat gun around the edges very quickly to soften it a bit, then just carefully pried with a nylon trim removal tool and they came right apart with no issues.
