How in gods name do you remove the wiper arms? Im trying to do the ecu relocate but cant get them off. I tried tapping the shaft with a hammer and pulling and got nothing. Also tried WD40 and it did nothing. Any help would be great.
it's such a pain i had to replace my wiper motor and i was sitting there for about an hour trying to get them off, they're splined and they rust easy so it takes a while.
I can't remember the last time I removed a set of wipers and said to myself "wow...that was easy." They always seem to require a lot of attention/work before they break free of the splines.
I painted the arms on my g/f's 97 GTP this Spring and it took me a good hour to get them off. The gear puller wasn't working (no room) but what did work was working from side to side with a flat-head screwdriver. Pry a little here, pry a little there...eventually they broke free.
Just relocate the ECM to under the dash..There is room beside the BCM,It does not produce heat so you are ok inside the car with it..
Yeah i think it will be going under the dash. Seems like way too much trouble when i can just shove it under the dash with minimal work.
yup...just make sure to disconnect the battery first..
crows foot tw.
Every time I scream "Release", I mean it, you know it. I feel the day. Black 7.
Yell at them, They should come off pretty quick
lol i tried to sweet talk them first but they weren't having it. So i tried to yell at them and they just held on tighter. I can't win with these things!
Battery terminal remover
Should be able to pick one up for about $10.
Works great.

^^ is there enough room to get that on there with the hood still on
yep.
the way I get the bloody things off, push and pull going back and forth where the spring is on the arm itself, I can usually get them off in about 5-10 minutes now. it's an art form taking them off quick without tools.
There's a bolt under a rubber cap that holds the wiper blade on. Get the bold off and the wiper arm should wiggle free. Just keep moving it back and forth, push up and down on the spring part in the wiper arm.

takes me about a minute.....pull the bolt, raise the arm, and wiggle.

Yep, should be.
And ya, I forgot to mention, but you are removing the nut first, right? Ya never know, lol.

I had the same trouble when replacing my wiper motor. This is what finally did it for me. I got 2 hammers... one to go between the arm and the part of the base its connected to. The other hammer to hit the center part which the wiper arm sits on. I did it in a synchronous oscillating manner. Worked well...
Thanks for all the help but i just decided to put ecu inside.
thanks again

this. Really not rocket science. Take bolt off, press down where wiper pivots, take wiper off.
