pay a pro, or they'll charge you double to fix what you mess up.
^^^^^correct, and i would charge double my self if its preped by a novice becasue im fixing what you @!#$ up, spending more time making the panles straight fixing what wasnt fixed, i cant teach online how to prep a car for paint will never happen your better off letting a pro do it
can i haz bondo
Writing down some text isn't going to learn anyone. Not only do you have to experience it, but you have to do it again and again to get it just right. You get the "feel" for certain things. Crappy prep can make a 2000 dollar paint job look like I beat your car with a baby seal.
Come on now, in all fairness it would cost at least $2000 to get someone to beat your car with a baby seal these days.
It's a good way to get that splattered look that everyone's after. Here's the scoop. Let's day you prep it flawlessly. Then you're going to drive the car to the shop. Whole care is bare minimum going to need wiped down and masked. Dents will need to be taken care of.
^^ And even if it is prepped perfectly like you said...
...do you know how difficult it is to remove dried baby seal parts from a car?!
