this is a short to the point write up on how to fix a ureathan body part such as a stock LS lip i did for Jbok i figer i share it with you all
ok the tools and goodys needed lol
well only tools i really used was a solder iron and a old screw driver
you need sand paper i used 80 grit dry and 600 dry/wet
you will need some kind of ureathan body filler. I may self only needed a little bit so i stop buy the part store and got a little tube of bumper fix. Bumper fix is made by bondo, and its a ureathan base so it works well and is cheep. As for the price of the bumper fix i thank i gave 5 or 6 bucks for it.

ok step one
i took the solder iron and simply melted the crack back togeaher
step 2
i took some 60 grit sand paper and sanded about 1-2 inchs arond the crack so that that filler will lay rite
step 3 now i have got it all sanded i mix up a little filler be sure only to mix a lil at a time seens after about 2 min you can do nothing with it
step 4
go get you a coke or some food lol as the filler has to set for 30-45 mins befor its ok to sand

start sanding i my self used 80 grit till i got it pritty much smoth then i took some 600 wet sand paper and wet sand it to get it nice and smoth

clean it off and shoot some primer
You can also use fusor or 3m panel bond (they make it specifically for plastics) to bond it, scuff it up, use the urethane filler, use 60, then 220. Then 400.

what did you do to the backside? Without strengthening the backside odds are it will rip itself back apart.. esp since you melted the plastic making it thinner.. 3M and Fusor both make a mesh material but some will go the cheap route and get metal screen for windows. Anyway take that and form it to the backside and apply your glue on the backside as well to get some build/strength on the backside..
I can't say I agree with this method of fixing the crack, but i will say for a DIY on a small crack like so, guess it works. I just don't see it lasting.. but congrats nonetheless
Fuzor or 3m...that's the right way to do it. I myself like using the SpeedGrip structural urethane...same concept as this fix, except I would pull the crack apart a little, scuff around it, then fill the crack itself with the speedgrip, sand it smooth, then either coat with the bumper fix, or if you do it right you can lay a skim coat of filler...as long as you prime the plastic first you can lay in some body filler/glaze and it'll stick just fine
I just used 3m when I fixed the crack in my IF.
Metal screen like you use in your windows works great. I use it sometimes with fiberglass projects.

i dont agree with this method at all, this isnt polyuarthene people this is im either TEO/TPE.TPO OR PP which all need a adheshion promoter for anything to stick, and a soldering gun?? are you kidding me?? a plastic welder yes of course and the back side should also be preped and repaired, for strenght, not just the front, will this last i dont think it will, incorrect repair, yes it sure is
3m/fusor make products for plastic repair, and evercoat makes a flexable glaze that does work really well but guess what it doesnt stick to a offlein plastic without an adheshion promoter first, nothing will stick to a offlien plastic without adheshion promoter first,
i`ll have to say that this repair does=FAIL!
