Working a my custom fiberglass body kit
Monday, November 30, 2009 5:33 PM
I had been talking about building a budget body kit on another post, everyone was hating and said it wouldn't work out so I found my cheap little camera and posted some pics, I had pics all around but the ones of the front got over-written and the batteries died so I'll take some more tommore and post.
I included a pic of the before to compare. The kit is still in the fiberglass stage and needs to be sanded and cleaned up some more but its been raining around here all week.
Also you can see one of the neon tubes in the first pic right below the center opening.

Will follow up with more pics.

It's always good to see someone doing work themselves but you would've been much better served to find a cheap busted kit and modify it.

H@ll no I used the stock parts and about a gallon or two of fiberglass so the cost was very low

Quality is also very low.

Throw it away and start new.

Or put some stick on vents on it to reduce weight like your hood

dude... just call it quits... its just... not good man. Its void of any style or creativity, and the fiberglassing looks like it was done by me... which is bad because ive never done glassing before

Little more sanding you can get it to look as smooth as this one.

Decent prototype. Now when is the mold going to be made so you can actually make a bumper for your car?

this will be a good learning experience, but with that back bumper being so large and basically flat it is going to be extremely tough to get smooth and nice. and really the design just doesnt suit the car, its just flat and straigh, the sunfire is curvy. and they are just to big for the car really. i'd continue on it though just to gain more experience.

The only nice thing I can say is that it looks like you keep your hubcaps nice and clean.

that looks like ass. No curves or anything, just a big flat rear, you would've been waaaay better off modding a pre-existing kit or just leaving the car stock. I respect the fact that you're doing it yourself and learning, but you've got a long way to go for that to look decent. just my .02 cents

You fiberglassed over plastic so yes. It could be tomorrow or a year from now but different expansion rates says it will happen
