DDM Tuning is a reliable vendor to buy from. I bought a set of HIDs from them and am pleased, and I know a ton of the BMW guys deal with DDM. I've heard a few good things about the Raptor series, though I have no personal experience with them.
Notice though, $30 only gets you a single xenon 35watt kit....which would be good for fog lights. If you are looking at headlights, you are going to want a 55watt kit (add $10) and depending what headlight bulbs you are running, a bi-xenon kit (add $20) which brings you up to $60. I paid $75 shipped for my DDM kit about a year ago (I have the slim line kit)
Hope that points you in the right direction
gotcha. so do you think th 35W 3000K would be a nice yellow for my fogs??
DOPER.
Yup, I've bought lot's of kits from DDM. I haven't bought their cheap Raptor brand yet, but my roommate did and it was good quality. So far so good. I've got a set of the DDM brand in my CBR600RR and love them. You can't go wrong with the price, and their customer service is pretty decent too.
The 3000K should be a decent yellow hue for the fogs.

I read on a few forums where there was little or difference between the 35w and 55w kits. I went with 35w 5000k so I'll have to see when it gets here

ya i was going to ask the same thing on your recommendation of 55 watt. i asked for the 35w for xmas but my mom was having trouble w/ the site to order them. anyone know the difference?

As for comparing the 35w and 55w kits, the 55w will just be a more intense light output than the 35w. They will still be the same color light output, just brighter.
Now my understanding too is that since the 55w ballast is pulling a little more power they also put more strain on the stock wiring harnesses, which may give the potential for frying some wires. I know my driver's side bulb socket used to fry every several months just from running the "arctic white high performance" halogen bulbs...I didn't want to take any chances with the HIDs so I just bought two heavier gauge bulb harnesses from Advance Auto and spliced those in, haven't had any problems thus far (running 55w ballast)
^^^55 watts is the stock wattage of bulbs [not sure hi or low's, but it is stock]...those high performance ones are 65+ watts.
thats y u were frying. HID's shouldnt fry any wiring!
soo is the 35W going to be not bright at all? i wish there was a comparison picture!!
DOPER.
also does anyone have the 35W??
DOPER.
well i couldnt wait no more!! i ordered a set of 9007 8000K and a set of 880 3000K also some #74 V-leds (red) and some white 194 LEDs

All of the kits that I've purchased have been the 35W kits. The 35W HID kits already put out more lumens than what the stock halogen bulbs put out. Believe me, 35W is NOT dim. It's definitely brighter that any stock halogens. In fact, the 55W kit is worthless unless you have projector housings to put them in. You really won't notice that much of a difference in a non-projector housing because there is no cut-off for the light output. Another point to make is they highly recommend buying a heavier wiring harness if using the 55W kits. That's more $$ and more time to install.

I know where I'm getting my Kit from. Thanks!
I am a beginner when it comes to electronics... If I was to buy a kit for my headlights, could I use this Raptor HID kit? If so, do I have this right?
- Wattage: 35watts
- Bulb Type: 9007 Hi/Lo
- Bulb Color: 6000

Yes, however I would get a bulb color that is lower. Get one as close to 4000K as you can. That is the truest white light and will give you the most lumen output. A lot of people think that BMW's have a higher K bulb in order to get the blue/purple hint to it. In fact, they use close to a 4000K bulb. The lens on the projector has a prism effect at the cutoff which causes the blue/purple color.

I would like to have a little hint of blue. Maybe 5000 is right in the desired lumen/color balance?
I might be way off on this, is the Hi/Lo option another word for bi-xenon?
Also, how hard are these to install or is it just plug and play?
IMO if you wan the right balance between color and visibility ger the 6K, i also have one set of 5ks and they loos no different than my 6ks. Also all my setups are 35w.
I will be getting these for my 91 i got a set of 8,000k for my moms 95 jimmy and they work great

4300k is stock, so 4500k will have a hint of yellow while 5000k should be as close to pure white as you can get. I have 6000k right now and its a little more blue than I'd like. Hi/Lo refers to bi-xenon and these should be plug and play as in plug the headlight plug into the ballast and the HID bulb into the socket. On my '98, I mounted my passenger side ballast on the evap canister and my driver side on the intake bong.
