how to clean up the look?
Monday, February 08, 2010 5:53 PM
looking for ideas to clean up the appearance of the outside or inside of my car, mostly outside, someone suggested taking off the badges, i plan to, i also have some old stickers from the previous owner of the car, what is a good way to remove stickers without damaging the bumper?

Some pics would help but a Z kit would take care of the stickers

the stickers have almost disentegrated around the edges, making it impossible to get off, very frustrating

NNNNAAAAAWWWWWWZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!

lol... I would imagine a pasitc putty knife would work well for the stickers, and it shouldn't scratch anything. For the badges I'v read that some fishing line is an easy way to get them off.

Try a heat gun and some stuff called oops, its a glue remover I use to get rid of tape residue from leaving masking tape on windows too long.
Wipe down the area with a wet rage and the with a DIFFRENT rag splash some on it and rub it a few times till it fills like its drying and then wipe it down with the water again to keep it from
eating the clear coat. And just repeat untill you get the most of it off. If you need to scrape it off try using a tool called a 5-way (ask anyone at a hardware store what it is) and place a single layer of
cloth around it and repeat the steps above. Just remember to wipe down with water often.

Debadge it, desticker it, clay bar it, drop it, Z/24 kit, and a nice set of 17s would make for a real clean car.

Made me instantly think of :

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it,
Charge it, pawn it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,
Write it, cut it, paste it, save it,
Load it, check it, quick - rewrite it,
Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it,
Drag and drop it, zip - unzip it,
Lock it, fill it, call it, find it,
View it, code it, jam - unlock it,
Surf it, scroll it, pause it, click it,
Cross it, crack it, switch - update it,
Name it, rate it, tune it, print it,
Scan it, send it, fax - rename it,
Touch it, bring it, Pay it, watch it,
Turn it, leave it, start - format it...

J-body Version:
Buy it, shave it, drop it, tint it,
boost it, spray it, kit, debadge it
Break it, swap it, build it, paint it,
race it, clean it, then go show it

Try a pencil eraser or Goo Gone to get rid of the residue. Looks much cleaner!!!

I have always been a fan of the 00-02 stock inner taillights.

Two things:

1) only use a heat gun on a painted area if you really know what you're doing. Otherwise, use a hair dryer on low.

2) DON'T EVER USE OOPS! ON PAINT OR PLASTIC! It's a solvent-based glue remover, and it will eat your paint and plastic (not to mention your sinuses while you're using it). Use Goo Gone for this.

To the OP, it looks much better. Rather than wasting time on the bumpers, check salvage yards for a Z kit (you can probably even score a white one if you look hard)...Problem solved, and you've got an upgrade.

never use anything a professional wouldn't use... to remove badges and vinyl(stickers) u need a $15 rubber wheel made to be put on a drill...
it works wonders and fast... so the paint doesn't have a chance to heat up from friction... i used to work at a print shop that made a killing on
vehicle graphics(not rice... but for promo cars and delivery trucks) this is the only tool/part that guaranteed us not having to pay for a new paint job...

trade secret given away for free... ur welcome JBO...

thats what I use, the rubber eraser wheel. You can get rid of pin strips down a car in 5 minutes, they work great and quickly

ok., so the look is good except for my cracked front lip, and that leftover stuff on my rear bumper, it wont come off even with goo gone, and some of it is scratches through the paint too, so im buying a 224 front and rear bumper as suggested, should make it look alot better

finally bought a z kit, its black not white though, so im gonna have to paint it, i looked it up, but just to clarify, wet sand with 1000 grit until its dull, clean with alcohol or paint thinner, 1 coat primer, 3-5 coats paint, 2-3 coats clear?
