how to remove bowtie

hey there everybody, I have a little project this summer, and it involves painting the light bar black, my question is how hard is it to remove the bowtie around the key hole? I noticed the bowtie emblem isnt flat but "molds" into the key hole. Thanks

not hard, get some fishing line and use it to dig behind the bowtie sawing ur way back and forth as you go. goo gone and ur thumb will take care of the leftover residue. it sucks and ur thumb will hurt for a week but it's worth it. and to get it out of the keyhole part, u just basically pull back and forth like a @!#$ till it come's out.

This is all great info, i plan on doing the same (my 04 cav already has the badges and pinstripes removed, using the method Blucavvy suggested), though will the keyhole look really big and ugly once the bowtie comes off? i left it because I didnt want a big ugly hole in the rear of my cav

i don't think it looks bad, but it's a matter of opinion. mine now has a carbon fiber bowtie covering it.

very nice, the carbon fiber looks really good with the blue. but yeah, it doesnt look bad by itself. Thanks for the info!

I used a sponge to get it off instead of my thumb, works better and doesn't hurt as bad.

I'm not going anywhere just yet

Hahaha... love that signature..

and a sponge eh? I've tried an eraser, shop towels, plastic putty knife... my thumb was the only thing that worked at all.. I've almost got it all off one side, might have to try that on the other..
