My engine bay is completely stock besides the GMP front strut bar.
Looks.. Stock lol
With that being said, im ready to put some cash into it. CF would look great with my silver and CF hood, but this is expensive. I'll decide on that later. Any other suggestions on cleaning this thing up? IE simple relocations?
Thanks!
relocate ecu. there was a thread in p+m recently as well as audio about doing the relocation.
polish the valve cover.
get a polished intake.
for me those three things cleaned it up a @!#$load.

Thanks! ECU relocate is gonna help.
Any tips on polishing? Tools/products i should have?
And I forgot to add i've got an AEM cold air, so that helps. It isn't polished, but silver.

^^^ lol. Yes.

Mine will surely need some prep work but I went to summit a few weeks ago and got some high temp engine enamel in Silver and Black. Should match my silver exterior well. Thanks!
if your trying to match, id get matching paint or chances it will look off and just not look clean.
relocate the ecu. the cruise, the fuse box. the battery. work on rerouting the wiring so its not as noticable. you could ditch the a/c if u really wanted to clean things up. but i know allot of people like their a/c. doing those things will give you a huge effect on the engine bay.

Will regular rattlecan hold up to any heat that can build up under there?. Cause I have a can of duplicolor in ultra silver metallic.
regular rattle can will hold up to the heat just fine. just be sure to do it properly and take your time with prep, and always make sure to use primer. if you want to go the extra mile, use clear over it.
i sprayed my cam towers/timing chain housing with regular wal-mart craptastic paint and it lasted just fine. no bubbling or peeling etc. they get pretty hot.
We all need somebody to believe in something...

I clear most everything i work with. Suggestions for a particularly high gloss spray can paint?
If you are looking to just get the engine bay clean, this is what I've heard really works:
1) after getting the engine warm, disconnect the negative and cover any parts you want to stay dry with aluminum foil.
2)lightly spray the engine bay with water and close the hood. let it soak for about 15 minutes.
3)open the hood and spray the bay with simple green cleaner, close and let soak another 10-15 minutes.
4)Re-open hood and either wipe down the bay and proceed to spray it with tire cleaner/foam/shine. (this stuff should say on the can that it does not require any wiping). Watch it dry(only a couple minutes of waiting) and apparently the bay is supposed to be clean!
I haven't tried this personally but it is what my brother-in-law did to clean his Mustang GT's bay. He said it worked wonders.
Give it a try?

Or you could break out a brush and scrub the stuff??
i super power washed mine and relocated my ecu before that and now it looks real good with my polished red AEM cold air.
Hey Kris, if you need an extra valve cover I was gonna polish but kind of lost interest so it is pretty much prepped and ready to go. LMK if you are interested.
Thanks! Ill post some pics of my progress real soon. Ive already begun =)
It's my DD, so progress is slow.

I just may! That way, the car won't have too much downtime. Ill shoot you a PM in the next couple days if i decide that that's something i wanna do.

ooooh i really like the orange cover.... since my car is orange! does the cover come off rather easily? I've never done anything with engines before besides putting my intake on
and that was a piece of cake.

3)Re-open hood and hose down with garden hose until no more suds are seen.
4.)Immediately spray everything (rubber, plastic, metal) with Original Armorall. Use a LOT and pay no attention to puddles or drips.
5.)Close hood and let sit overnight. The first time you drive it, all the excess Armorall will slide off and you'll be left with a beautiful, shiny engine bay.

Fixed I've used this method for close to a decade on probably 2-dozen cars

Simple Green and hose only:
hey thanks! I will probably use your method to clean my bay whenever I get to it.
