I just realized, that the passenger side headlight on my newly purchased 04 cavalier is really dim while the drivers side is bright, already tried replacing the light bulb and checking the fuses with no success. has anyone had this problem? or how should I troubleshoot this issue?, i also realized that the shifter (P,R,N,D,3,2,1) doesn't light up when I turn on the lights. besides that all interior lights work fine. is it suppose to light up? might both issues be related? how should I troubleshoot them?
any help is appreciated
thank you
I dont think the two issues are related. There is a light under the shifter that probably has burnt out. You need to take the centre consol out to get at it.. I
believe the screws to take it apart are located in front of the 2 cup holders (under the hvac) and there are 2 i believe in the bottom of the arm rest.. ill go check out my 03 and let you know for sure. also to take out the consol you need to take off the shift knob. there is a small clip on the front of the shift knob (the side facing the hvac) and if i remember correctly you can just pop the clip out with a flat head screw driver.. ill brb gonna check out the car
ok just check it out, there are to screws in the bottom of the arm rest storage bin, i think they are 10mm. there is also one in front of the cup holders. i also pulled out the switches for the windows and noticed there is another 10mm that might have to be removed.. it shouldnt be too hard to get at. and ill look into that head light issue also
good luck
thanks a lot Dan I appreciate it. I'm gonna try that on my next day off if it's not raining. Still what I really need to fix is my headlights, i've read that many times is caused by dirty connections so I'm gonna try cleaning/sanding the connectors to see if it helps.
again thanks Dan
Yep give the connectors a quick clean, and no problem man thats what we're here for
