Ugliest tails EVER.
Id either swap to a 95-02 trunk and tails, or use the rk sport c/f filler panel and 95-02 tails

This.
I have never seen a cav with those tails and hopefully will never.
Anybody who's dumb enough to have bought those is smart enough to not come here.
Thanks for the opinions. Not to change the subject of the thread but what about painting the panel to match the body color?

00-02 tails would still look better.
I;ve seen a chrome tail setup like that here or there IRL.. It looks horrible...at best.... Painting the bar is a possibility and can sometimes be pulled off... but as was mentioned, the best looking combo by far is an 02 or older trunk/tail combo.
I havent seen it but swap to a 00-02 trunk man it'd look great have you posted any pics of your car yet?
Ive seen those tails before, in person too. not only are they not that great looking, but the lenses bulge out right where the brake lights are. they look bad in pictures and are ten times worse in person.

SO EVERYTHING!
Here are a few of the car as it is now.
And here is what I hope it will look like by next summer. I already have the wheels they just need to be cleaned up and wrapped in new rubber. I have a friend that does paint and body work. All I have to do is come up with the materials.
Opinions?

I'm not a big fan of that two tone using the factory green, but if that's what you like, then go for it!
I think other than that, you are off to a good start...a nice set of wheels and a drop are always a good place to start! If you go in the direction you have pictured there, I would suggest going with the 95-02 trunk/tails (maybe find one with the 00-02 z24 wing), remove the side moldings from the door, and paint your door handles to match the body color.
The door moldings are already gone. That was the first thing I took care of. IMO the factory green is nice. What would you suggest, though? As I said all I have to do supply the materials to my friend for paint and such. Thanks for the comments.

There is a local guy with those hideous tails... I'll see if I can get a picture of them, I lol every time I see him
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

If you are set on that color scheme, I would suggest maybe using a silver or gold dividing stripe to separate the colors, and maybe throw a little pearl into the clear coat...and good choice on where you placed the the two tone line, I think going from the corner of the headlamp to the tail light looks good, though I would maybe run the line on top of the tails, then dip it between them on the trunk.
That sounds good. I think I have a line on a black 00-02 trunk lid and tails. I was thinking about splitting the colors with a silver line. I want to get some silver accents for the interior which is tan to tie exterior to the interior. Are there any options for headlights on our year car?

smoke the tails themselves with vht night shade one coat and three coats on the center bar will look good and be cheap and easy to do just dont coat the reverse locations tape them off acordingly per section that you are doing and one coat on the third brake light
How many cans will it take to get this done?

not even half a can here is my friends 02 sunfire sedan i gave him my stock 05 cav tail lights and we did just as i said cept left the inner tails red. btw dotn pay attention to the date stamp i never change it when i change batteries, this pic is actually from last summer.
What kind of prep work is needed? Other than taping off the areas not to be tinted. Did you sand and/or just clean the tails? Looks like I will be doing this over the weekend if it is a simple project.

Love the shade of green not a fan of that front end tho.
hah decide on what you were doin with the rear yet?
Right now I plan on keeping things stock. Just lowered. I might go with a lip kit and sides but I am not sure yet. For the rear I am going to try tinting the tails to see how that looks.

This is my Cav with those lights and they're not that bad. Granted everyone else on here hates them, but to each their own. Although eventually I will be swapping trunks to the 00-02 setup in order to switch to a new spoiler and not have a ton of holes in my trunk. But if the rest of you want to down on my tails feel free if it makes you sleep easier at the end of the day.
Seeing them on your car makes me think they might work. Do you have any other pics? I wouldn't worry too much about what everyone on here thinks. They are at least better looking than the stock setup.

To each his own, definitely, but thats a craptastic way to blow $135 on something you could make yourself with your stock lenses, IMO. Granted it wont look exactly the same, but think about it like this:
ebay altezzas: $135 + $28 shipping
-or-
VHT nightshade: $8
painters tape: $4
2000 grit wet sandpaper: $3
total estimated cost: $15 + a few hours of your time
Just saying, save your money for the mods that really count, not the ones that cause people to look and think "another kid thinks his J is a ricer" (no offense Fallen311).
Oh and if you do end up keeping the stock lenses, debadge that mofo, goof off and fishing line will do the trick. Took the gold bowtie, "Cavalier LS" and side moldings off my '04, very happy with the results.

My least favorite aspect is the inner chrome piece, it doesn't even line up to anything, looks tacky. Night shaded stock light bar/tails > these eGay tails.
