Hey guys. Just wondering if there is a safe way to remove paint that was done at a shop on the 03 rear bezel/tails. The paint was professionally done years ago, but now the clear coat (I assume) is peeling and just looks bad. I would love to swap the trunk with an 02 rear, but I just don't want to put all that work into it at this point (body is rotting of rust by popular gas tank area, ugh). Either I'll have it professionally redone, although I prefer not to add much $ to this either, or just a safe way to strip the paint off and have it all just come off after a product sits on the paint and show the red reflector again? If it was done right, it could have been sanded and ruined, I understand that. But in case it was sanded and not just primered does anyone have a website where I can purchase the oem bezel or certain pieces? Whatever you can help me with, I would appreciate a lot. (Yes, I can google, but maybe someone knows a trust-worthy place). Junk yards are not an option, nor is the RK sport bezel option as its overly expensive and read they are not good to deal with (don't stand behind their products if I read that correctly somewhere). Plus I don't want 'black' theme on my yellow car. Thanks everyone.
Honestly, that 3M Headlight restore kit works wonders on painted lights. I bought a parts car, which the fog lights were painted over, used the 3m kit, and cleaned it right up, and even polished the lights up better. Check out my post here
Linky and see the fog light pics on page 4, the before and after. Did a good job for me, and if those rears are as bad as you say they are, sanding off the paint should not be a problem. Goodluck!!

Thanks for the responses guys. Is there anyway besides a junk yard that I could purchase the oem tail lights? doesn't HAVE to be oem. but I don't want them euro-uglies. Can't seem to find the middle/reverse tail part only anywhere it's mostly just the outers. Thinking maybe just the middle part I could leave red and the outers yellow how they are...but gotta see what my preference would be. I would have to be verry careful w/ the paint thinner lol. I am far from having it look stoopid.
Well, if you have a place around you that sells or specializes in newer junked cars, you may get lucky but usually they only have u order the part, and then u gotta come back after they take if off the car, and pay for it, then take it, which usually means more money. If you get REAL lucky you can find one at a yard. But I would not count on it. If your really worried about doing it with paint thinner, which i would bc if left on too long i think it can damage the plastic on ur lights, and if your worried about the 3M stuff i told you about, just go and pick up a decklid for any cavalier at a junk yard, one with a spoiler, get it painted, and put ur spoiler on, and now you dont have to worry about the center piece, you now have a shaved trunk persay, and it could be done. The way I said is pretty much the safest way to do it, since you really wont damamge your lights unless u hold the sanding disk on your light for waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too long. But goodluck!
