home depot lip kit.

I'm sure many have seen the famed home depot lip kit. (if not. Google home depot lip kit.)I saw it on a few different cars and to be honest for the money it does look good.

I'm thinking of putting one on my z bumper. Its cheap and I don't have to worry about smashing it on the crappy roads.

Anyone done this on their cav?

Just got done looking at this on the SRT-4 forum, and the skeptic side of me is asking, "what keeps the rubber lip from becoming uneven once it heats up in the sun and weathers?" Pretty common knowledge that rubber (and most matter) expands when heated, wouldn't this happen to the lip and make it look wavy and uneven? Im sure it looks good for a while but after a while Im sure its going to look uneven and wavy. Still, Im sure its not that big of a deal to get more garage door stripping and re-apply if it does warp and weather...

Its probably not the worst of the home depot/ebay mods, but I would be cautious. Definitely want to see pics of the Z24 if you decide to do it.

i think that's the only pic i have of it when i still had it on my car. the front lip looks ok and i had it on for about a year through all kinds of weather without it warping or anything. but i'm happy that i took it off. i'll be happy with the stock bumper till i get a rk lip. it's just too small and there's no good way of getting any kind of finished edge on the sides by the wheel wells

See I was gonna get a base bumper and try it I did try it once but with the 45 degree stuff. I couldn't find the 90 degree.

I may have to just get some and try it.

It doesn't look good in any application except on the garage door imo..

looks clean if done right, but cant say im a fan, doesn't give the car a low enough look, a couple of those garden liner lip turned out pretty good though

I got a lot of compliment's on the lip and not one person knew it was a home depot lip...lol
The thing I don't like about the garden lip is you can tell what it is right off the bat.

ebay and amazon people can make some real money. i see 12 pack of cans of vanilla coke on amazon.com for 24 dollars. that's 2.00 a can when you can get four 12-packs for only 10 dollars sometimes at kmart. give me a break. same with ebay. they buy the stuff for like 10 dollars, sell it for like 40 dollars and make out like a bandit. i have tried selling different things but it never works out right for me, i end up breaking even after all the fees and shipping costs somehow.

like wise after hagglers, and shipping and listing fees, and the risk of not selling, Ebay aint worth it anymore, im all about craigslist , with that evey 9 out of 10 emails i get are scammers. its so hard to make an honest buck these days

Because of the Z kits curved geometry, it will never look right IMO.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

I love it on the 'blu actually.
Pictures don't do it justice to be sure and you've got to see it in person to appreciate the look of the lip.
Yeah, there's haters but I personally feel the Home Depot lip accentuated an already aggressive profile to the car and lowered/ widened the existing RK lip even more.

This won't be permanent as I'm in the process of making a complete undertray for the car which would include a nice but not too obnoxious splitter for the car. This will replace the home depot lip with some functional aero without wings.
The undertray would encompass the subframe to the front of the car meeting up with the splitter.
I've already got my retainer mounting points figured out and just need to save up for the alumalite sheet to do the job.

Hate all you want but the compliments came in droves when I finally got to cruise the car in our 'Scrapin the Coast' cruise not too long ago.
And thanks Mike.

On that gto, you need double sided tape or support in between mounting points. I see sag than a ninety year old in the picture

hey i kinda like the lip and if you like it then go for it. i personally put a front lip off a s13 s40sx on my base model cavalier front bumper and it looked quite good.. but all thats gone anyways since ive been working on the body this week. new front and rear bumper, side skirts, z24 style spoiler smoked headlights and taillights, 10000k hid kit, full intake, catback exhaust, and a set of restored vintage staggered pontiac fiero gt rims to finish it off. kinda going with a rally car look with the 1999 sedan. pics will be up soon everybody tell me wht u think when they come up. btw car is being painted viper blue pearl.

nobody's a virgin, cause life screws everyone.
