Question about new hood
Monday, July 19, 2010 10:27 PM
I recently got in a small fender bender and I need a new hood. I got at an auto parts store so I got a new hood for cheap, but I don't want to spend the money to paint it body color (I also think it will look good if I keep it black). The hood has the primer black that came on it. I have heard everything from just rattle canning some clear on the black primer, giving it a good wax, to actually painting it black. I am looking for opinions, I am really trying to avoid taking it to a paint shop.

Thanks

Shawn M.

That or see if you can find a local org member that does paint/body work...I usually hook up fellow JBOers with pretty good discounts, like $50-60 to paint/clear a hood.

I have blacked out most everything on the car and I think it will look good.

I thought about the junk yard and I may still go to see what they got, but a new hood cost me $67. And at the time I didn't think I was going to run into this problem. Any opinions on the options I listed?
