they arnt blown, all the sunfire coupes ive seen look like this. the middle part is just not as bright as the outer edges.
alright, well then there should be two 194 bulbs in there a beleive.. id first see if a 912(dome light) bulb will fit, that will be bigger/brighter and may illuminate it more. Or.. as mention try leds. you can get some 5WLEDs from superbrightleds and try or if you want custom try to mount some leds across the whole back.. keep in mind as long as you just use the two outter bulb sockets then your always going to be brighter on the outside.. you need the same light behind the whole thing. so look at being a LED strip to put in there..
i just thought of something. since my car is green, i wonder how it would look if i changed it from lighting up red to lighting up green?

it'll be purple.. im pretty sure the lens is red not clear
i may look into something like this

you should be able to maneuver them in through the 2 bulb socket holes and it go across the entire inside of the sunfire logo(unless there is a divider in there for some reason). may have to use some double sided tape to hold it or glue so it stays put. then just tap into ur wires and probably wouldnt be a bad idea to seal up the rest of the uncover hole with silicone or some tape to prevent water/moisture buildup. just a idea, there are better ways to do it but i dont think you'd take the time to do it.

exactly. the bulbs themselves are clear. afterall, they are the license plate light bulbs. anything you do to brighten up the sunfire logo will also brighten up your plate. if you go with just a LED strip, you'll need something else to still light up your plates, otherwise you might draw unwanted attention from cops.
don't even ask if it's possible to remove the red plastic making up the emblem either, without a whole lot of cutting it's pretty much impossible. it's too well integrated into the panel piece to simply remove.
I wonder if a mirror would do anything?
I'm surprised this is just now coming up.. or the OP didnt search, but since he didnt get flamed, I'm guessing not.. ? I always wondered about changing the color myself if I ever gotta Sunfire. good to know its pointless to try...

Dremel out the letters adhere whatever color film you want to the back side of the piece then on the front fill the cutout with clear resin. Sand. Clear coat. Done. Works on gauge faces also
