bumper fix

I purchased a z24 bumper for my base model 99 cav. Its the wrong color so it will need repainted. But my concern there is a 8 inch crack or tear in the bumper fight in front of the passanger fog light. Its very noticeble and cannot be painted without being fixed. I dont want to fiberglass it or use duraglass/bondo. Is there any sort of epoxy or something that you guys would reccomend?

Thanks fellas for any suggestions.

plastic weld it with a piece of plastic sheet.. to reinforce it. then finish off the front of the crack with more plastic welding. try to make it smooth. once its dry sand it down smooth. just an idea i used to combine a lip i did for a sentra after cutting it in half to make it fit width wise. it may work for you also. i used a cheap soldiering gun and zipties to melt

There are also 2 part epoxies meant for repair of plastic, I use Speedgrip urethane panel bond, and there are also some good profucts made by Fuzor and SEM.

Where can u buy this stuff at?? I have a 5 inch crack in my front bumper, and I used Bondo's Plastic Bumper Weld, and it cracked, again, so I used it again, and left it in the "relaxed state and used a thin laywer of bondo to smooth the diffrence of the heights, and still cracked again. Im running short of buying a new bumper, but with them at 350+ just for the bumper, its kinda a last resort. Thanks Evilution.

The usual on the shelf products available for plastic repair in my experience are crapola. You need use a professional grade product to get good results. Lord Fusor makes many good productions for every different adhesive aplication you can think of. 3M Automix is also a good product. Don't confuse them for craptastic ones like Bondo and Permatex brands. If you go into a professional autoparts store like Carquest, Nappa, or an autobody supply shop they'll know what you mean. (I think those are Canadian places only, sorry lol. There are many online places to order from also.

Well they have those out here in the states too, and I actually work for Napa. So im going to look in the 3M book we have here at work, and see if I can get some numbers and maybe get that ordered. Is there anything else that I may need to know? What should I put behind the crack to re-enforce it, if anything at all?? Thanks guys!

Edit, I went to that site, and there is GREAT information on how to repair the cracks in plastic bumpers. This is AWSOME!! I just wanna know, does anyone have and part numbers on those adhesive backed plastic patches????? Bc I know im going to need those at least 2 or 3. As a just in case thing. Thanks again! Ill be ordering this stuff in the next couple days, im just glad I can get it all through Napa at a huge discount
