Custom Sunfire spoiler
Sunday, August 29, 2010 11:42 PM
I was at the Food Lion Auto Fair this weekend and stumbled across a fiberglass spoiler fo $5! It looks similar to the Celica GT spoiler that I've been wanting so I picked it up.

I'm thinking about extending the feet a little and angling them at the bottom to match the slope of the trunk so it doesn't tilt backwards. Probably tilted forward a little more than in the pictures. I also thought about extending the ends of the spoiler and bringing them to a point like on the Celica spoiler, but matching the shape of the trunk.
Here's a pic of what I'm talking about on the Celica as reference.

Any other ideas?

for $5, you can't go wrong. even if you screw it up, you aren't out much at all. i think it will look pretty good.

I had thought about that..
but the Celica spoiler is plastic and I don't have what I need to make it fit the sunfire. Besides, it would be difficult to get the shape nice with a plastic welder . This one allows me to actually fit the shape to the car and make it look like it belongs there.

i do like the low stance of the spoiler now! kinda just flows w/ the curves w/o being in the air.

Last time i ate there i had to call in sick then next day at work because my stomach was soo screwed up.

On topic:

It reminds me of John Piparo's fire.

Epicness is coming. Are you ready?

Always liked Piraro's fire. I just don't like the front of the Xplosion. With the all around look of that car though, I looked over that though.

I like it the width it already is, but definitely think making it sit level (front to back) will look good. I'd start with that first, then see how it looks before you extend the ends.

Yeah. I'm gonna get a good base before I do any real work on it. I am just impatient, and wanted to see what it would look like. I actually put some makeshift legs on it and made the shape follow the shape of the car. I didn'thave anybody to hold it for me so I could step back and see it.

I like your idea, but it actually fits and looks good as is!

The guy had 2 spoilers. I wish I had gotten both so that I could make it both ways. I'm leaning toward extending the legs and width though. I've just always liked the Celica or Charger spoiler.

I am going to do it something like this. I will probably put it a little farther back which will bring it down lower. I'll probably shorten the legs a bit too. My aim is to get it about level with the high point of the trunk.
