So it will be awhile before I can get a welder to weld in the patch panel I need...I was talking to a friend about it and he mentioned panel adhesives....
The piece I need done is the quarter panel, about 8" of it, then the bend and all the way to where it meets the rocker skin....Would a panel adhesive be good for this, or should I wait to get a welder and weld it in? I will probably go to a local yard and have them cut me out, or I will cut out the piece I need from a car, then cut my quarter accordingly...just not sure on reliability and durability of the adhesive compared to a weld, but have head it is supposed to be as strong as a weld..
My main concern is, I don't want to throw the $100 out there for the adhesive and gun and have to end up welding in a piece anyway 2 years or a year later when that $100 could have gone towards a welder....
What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Well I have done both and they both work great. The adhesive is also just as good as welding if not better because there is no major heat involved.( warpage, etc.) The adhesive is also stronger than a weld from what i understand. I have done restorations where metal dashes needed new ends but were too thin to safely weld so adhesive was my only option. For a quarter panel I wouldnt waste my time(alignment while its drying) I would weld it(tack it) in. I was lucky enough to borrow the gun and adhesive from work. Really depends on what you want to do and the options you have available(If you have a welder, your skill, etc) Just my 2 cent though.Im sure others might chime in.

When applied correctly to a properly prepped surface, the panel bond will be stronger than a weld. I tend to favor the Speed Grip line from Norton. I usually use the 2 part Urethane panel bond, comes in a variety of working time formulas (7-12 min will be ideal for patch panels), and it's easily sandable and primable. It's also great for other projects, speed grip will bond to any type metal, fiberglass, smc, tpo plastic, urethane, acrylic, plexi, etc. VERY verisitle product, I love it.
