I have a 2000 cavalier. I do a lot of country/night driving. I have considered upgrading to HID's but I dont have the money for that. I have silvestar (4000k I think) headlights. I want to upgrade to either silverstar ultra's or xenon bulbs. Does anyone have either the ulrta's or xenon bulbs or have an opinion of either one? Is one brighter than the other? I have been told to go with the ultra's because the xenon's have a blue tint which dims them a little. I have aftermarket white fog lights but I will be getting aftermarket amber fog/driving lights soon. I have heard amber fog lights are better for night/fog/snow driving.
I say go with the ultra's. I have them along with 3000k yellow fogs and I can see great at night
Save your money and get the hids when you can. Silverstars are still just regular ass headlights
definitely go HID's. both of them blow out eventually. i gave silverstars a chance a couple years ago and they dont last for @!#$. xenon's last a bit longer but still in the end go.

I have HID's in my Sunfire....they're awesome. You could almost buy a set of HID's for what a pair of Silverstars cost

You can buy a set of HID's from DDMtuning for less that you can buy a set of Silverstar Ultra's
As always make sure you have projectors, or the world will hate you.
i paid 13 bucks shipped for ultras on ebay brand new in box love them
This is my Signature sweet huh?
HID's ftw. cost just as much as silverstars and are way brighter.
this is the start of my signature: have you read the

If you don't want to go HID's, then look into Phillips Crystal Visions. They last about as long as silver stars, BUT depending on your area, they are about $10 cheaper, and in my opinion, 10x better. The silverstars are great, but the Crystal visions are a little less blue, and a little more white. Better light for a farther distance. They are now the only bulbs I will ever use, if I'm not using HID's.
You can get the crystal visions at Napa and Kmart. Seriously, check them out. I love them
Let me correct, they are Phillips Crystal Vision Ultra. Don't forget the ultra.
hid , are what i have on fogs and hi/low beam . love them ! I got them from ebay for cheap and have had them 2 years with no issues.

but from your sig it dosent look like you have projectors soo you just blind oncomming drivers and piss them off. If your gonna get hids make shure you have projectors
most trucks have blinding lights too, they have regular lights. all trucks/higher than car vehicles should have projectors too.
X2, and it could just be a cheaper camera that took that pic. I have Xtra Visions in my Z and I get about the same amount of glare when i take a pic.
ive heard alot of bad things about cheap HID kits though... often do they burn out or blow.

I personally love SilverStars / SilverStar Ultras. I had them in both my Sunfires. I currently have them in the fog lights, low beams, high beams, reverse lights and license markers on both mine and my mom's Vibes. If you are going to buy SilverStars / SilverStar Ultras, get them on eBay. They are
way cheaper than they are at Auto Zone, etc.
I too am a strong believer in not using HIDs unless you have a proper projector setup. If you are blinding oncoming traffic you're risking your life and the other driver. It's not worth it in my opinion.
*EDIT: Alot of people over on GenVibe really like the
Philips Xtreme Power bulbs. I personally have never used them, but alot of GV members rave about them.*

Not if you don't get your fingers all over them, I still have a pair that are going on 8 years old for my high beams, one of the the low beams died at about 7.5 years. So I figured I'd try out the new Silverstar ultras. Side by side with a 7.5 year old Silverstar the Ultra looked exactly the same and put out exactly the same amount of light. Disappointing to say the least.
So I modified the projectors I had to make them actually look good and bought three pairs of HIDs from DDM. I'll never look back.
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
I was sooooo bored today so just decided to take and post these pics for reference in case anybody needs them. First pic is HIDs in 00-02 headlights-the scatter is horrible and the bulb color is also messed up. 2nd pic is how HID lights should be used in projectors. I ditched the headlight swap cause I wanted to keep my HIDs.
