Have it powdercoated! Mine is painted that way and looks great:

Don't mind the dirt. We'd just come back from the farm.

Or give it a brushed aluminum look... Scotchbrite is your friend

Powder coat is the way to go. Spray paint will start chipping within a week.

What blue said. My old gt's was painted black and if done properly, it can last just fine. Take the time to prep and it will be fine.

this! prep means everything when it comes to painting. regardless of what type of paint. the problem is most people that use spray paint don't really know how/have the patience to prep for paint (which is y they're not using a professional gun to begin with) and that's y the @!#$ chips and looks like garbage all said and done. if you prep right and spray light coats and take the time to wetsand in between, rattle canning can look great. granted i wouldn't paint an entire car that way, but little trim pieces are things noone is ever going to be the wiser about.

my mirror's, door handles, sideskirts, and rear lip were all rattle canned and they turned out and have stayed in great condition. prep is god.
