I'm trying to tint the tail lights of my 05 cavy. Not a big car nut so I don't know how to remove the lights from the back. Could someone explain the process of removing the light bar and the two outer lights in the back? Any help would be appreciated and just a heads up, I'm not interested in the 00-02 lights. I actually like the light bar better.
To remove the outer tail lights, first pull back the trunk liner. Behind there you will find three nuts holding the light in. Be careful removing these from their mounts because in my experience I have found that the mounts can break (They are only made of plastic).
Next, on the inside of the trunk lid there are six or eight (I cant remember) nuts just like the ones on the tail lights. Remove those using the same caution as removing the tail lights.
Now you should be ready to tint. I prefer VHT Nightshades. You can purchase a can of it at your local auto parts store for roughly $13. One can is more than plenty to tint you tails and center piece. From here you can put as many coats as you'd like to get your desired darkness. Also, alot of people clear coat them afterwards.
Hope this helps
Wet sand then clear coat looks a lot better
Any chance you can post a picture after you do it? I want to do this to my car as well, but I haven't seen any pictures of how it looks.
Here's mine, I think i used somewhere around 5 light coats of VHT nightshade, then 3 coats of clear.
Yes I know i should do the 3rd brake light too, just haven't got around to it.
