HID's - Recommendation?

Hey guys.
Having somke problems with my HID's from DDM tuning. I've found that their quality has dropped, and their customer service is starting to lack. I've bought countless kits from them, but, it's time to find aother retailer. I'm not going to go into specifics about the problems I've had, but rather keep it simple like I said above.

Just curious if anyone else out there buys HID's from someone OTHER than DDM. If you do, where do you get them from, and hows the quality? Did you buy a hi/low kit, or just a single beam? How do the bulbs fit in the head light housings? Are they tight? What about the wiring? Were the connections good or cheap? How long have you had the kit for? Any problems with it?

Let me know guys. Need HID's again. My cavi just doesn't look the same without them.

Well i know this wont help but go on a few forums and read what brands they use.

I have only used DDM
I had 9004 single 8,000k 35watt and 880 35watt 3,500 on my 91z sold them and the people that have them and they still work and and those are going on 3-4 years
I put 9006 8,000k 35watt in my moms jimmy 3 years ago and there still going
Now i have 9007 hi/low 55watt slim 8,000k and 880 3,500k 35watt slim in my 00z 4months and still going

I think they put there better stuff in the slim ones than there normal ones.

All I buy is the digital slim kits.
I had one kit for a year. This one failed twice. The first time I was able to fix it easily. The second time I chose to call about the warranty. This wasn't a bulb failure either. The bulbs themselves have always been great, until recently.
And I had 2 kits for over 4 years. These have not failed yet, and I don't foresee them failing any time soon.
I had to buy new bulbs and wiring harness, (read below) and they were the worst bulbs I've ever bought. They didn't fit right, they were made terribly, they shook. They were just not made right. I could have bought better fitting/functioning bulbs on ebay.

I'm severely disappointed to be honest. I was truly faithful to ddm for at least the last 5 years of my life when it came to HID's. Every car i've owned has had them. And their customer service has started to lack, which I can understand with what I was told, but I'm still disappointed. This was in combo to them not honoring the warranty for corrosion, WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE, but i've had them replace items due to corrosion in the past, so their warranty has changed. I'm not being a bitchy pissed off customer because I'm an idiot. I'm just disappointed in general.

I've also decided to basically make my own HID kit. I'm using my DDM bulbs, my old ddm hi'low harness, and ebay digital ballasts. I had to repair the old harness myself, which I'm perfectly capable of doing, and did. So as soon as my ballasts get here, I'll be trying this home made kit.

I too have noticed the quality and customer service drop with DDM. I recently purchased some 35 watt 5000k hi/lo HIDs from them and they came straight from china. The bulbs were loose and shaky, and didn't fit into the housings until I trimmed them. Also, one of the bulbs was bad right out of the box. It was a pain in the ass trying to get the new ones. What they told me was that they were trying a secondary supplier from china and that they were thinking about dropping them because of the quality complaints. They told me they would send me the "good" stuff from california "apexcone" brand, and they did. The quality of these ones was better than I was expecting. They are perfect and better than what I have ordered in the past because they have an integrated plug for the factory wiring, instead of me having to mess around with those prongs. However, they took FOREVER to ship the new ones back. I will never order from them again. I too was wondering of any other brands that would be good. One brand I have looked into in the past is Kensun.

^^ Huh, the bad bulbs I got were the 5k bulbs too. Exact same problems I had as your describing. They were terrible, and I also have a bad bulbout of the box. I also had problems with the wiring harness too (the crimps were cheap, and broke while trying install it).
I guess what's really got me ticked off is they sent me these crappy bulbs that they have had known problems with, give me return authorization, and then I have to pay to ship them back, AND they are charging me a 20% re-stocking fee when the stuff they sent was bad in the first place. How does that make sense?

Apexcone brand stuff is top notch. Whatever other supplier they are using, is crap. I want to get another apexcone kit, but I hae no idea if I can without calling them to order it.

I called them and said I would like to recieve new bulbs and they gave me detailed instructions on how to send them the HID's. They also said that they would be sending me the apexcone HIDs instead of the chinese crap. They paid for everything. The only hassle for me was taking the time to pack and ship the bulbs and wait for the new ones. Just give them a call and tell them you want the apexcone ones sent back to you.
