Sup Cavalier fans,
I need help. Has anybody tried this? I saw a cavalier z34 with this mod and I decided to try it. Can anybody tell me how?
Follow the instructions for the toyo tails mod for the steering column alteration.
Cut the existing brake/turn wire at the socket approx 6" or so from the socket. Run a wire from the vehicle side of the cut wire to the reverse light socket. This will enable them as turns. Run a wire from the third brake light power to the socket side of the wire you cut. This will allow the brakes to act as brake lights only.
If you get creative, you can use switch back led bulbs in your reverse sockets to also have the white reverse light.
Fyi, there is no cav z34
Hahaha thanks! I'll give this a shot. About the Z-34, I knew I did a typo but I couldn't edit it. I have a z-24, 2001.
The only thing i was concerned about was the 'fast' clicking it could do if I cut one of the wires, but I should be safe If I run the third brake light to this? Okay, it would be easier if someone did a video( a good one).
About the reverse lights, I ordered white leds(panels) and I'm going to attach them in the corners where the plate goes. Should be sweeeeet.
As long as you stick with incandescent for the turns, it will not affect flash speed. If you swap over to LEDS, need to get an electronic flasher or load resistors.
If i get this working, I'm making a video and posting it on YouTube.
There's 3 leads including the ground to the lamp's socket.
I will disconnect the reverse light.
Separate the brake and turn signal from the steering column.
At the lamp, cut the turn signal wire and run that to the reverse light,
then splice from the third brake light and run it to the lamp where i cut,
and last, hook up the white pannel LEDs i purchased. to the reverse signal.
Sound reasonable? Now I just need time to work on my car...
I'll post pics for the lolz
Sweet, I may have to try this.

Still not low enough for a signature.
i think this was one of the first mods i ever did to a j body
people wonder why the have electrical problems with there cars do people not solder and heat shrink things
electrical tape doesn't hold wires or seal them from water or moisture it just protects them from touching metal
JBO since July 30, 2001
