Yeah I bought my car for me. Anything I do to the car is to enhance mainly just the handling cause I like a good handling car. If you test drive a car and it doesn't enough power for you then don't buy it. I have the 2200 ohv 5spd and its all I need, but I'm 33 years old too. I see plenty of high schoolers around where I live driving there four cylinders like it was the Indy 500 and its rediculous. People shouldn't worry so much about what others think of their car to begin with. Hell I got a butt-ugly 1985 Mercury Lynx (rebadged Escort) that I drive just as much as my Cavalier and could care less what the guy at the light thinks about it. I'm glad this site doesn't support street racing because it isn't safe. Cut your springs, people will tell you it isn't safe. Eibachs on stock struts, isn't safe. Cold air intake out of pvc pipe, uhm, maybe that's just cheap. Anyway the people on the site should promote what is safe and the right way to mod their car, and keep street racing out of it.

Eibachs may be safe on stock struts, but go ask it on the suspension forum and get ready for it. That's what I'm getting at. My neighbor up the street was charged with vehicular homicide and he wasn't even racing. There was a group of about four cars and they were cutting up a little, anyway one of em goes off the road and my buddy was charged out of everyone after the guy dies. It cost him out the a$% to get out of it. I've had my license suspended twice. Once for drugs and once for fleeing and eluding/ reckless driving. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000 to get them back. I like having my license and I won't give the po-po a reason to take them again.
Cops in Louisiana have really begun to crack down on drag racing because of a certain race some years ago. Two 5.0 (?) Mustangs stopped at a red light and began to rev their engines. This was at early in the morning so not a lot of people and no cops. Well, as the light turned green they decided to turn off their headlights. Hmm. There was a guy on a motorcycle who didn't see the mustangs coming up on him and well the mustangs couldn't slow down in time. I don't think the motorcyclist even made it made when the ambulance arrive. How some people even have a driver's license i don't understand. It's not difficult to get a license in Louisiana as apparent by all the horrible driver's in New Orleans (not their fault, it's the weird laws and the fact you have to stop in the middle of the road for a red light that's the problem) and Baton Rouge. So if he is upset that he can't brag that his Cavalier beat '79 Pinto or a '00 Civic DX, maybe he shouldn't be driving either.

Face it, street racing has been around since about the second 1903 oldsmobile, if not the stanley steamer-- and it aint about to go away any time soon. Thats a simple fact of life.
On the other hand, given the mindset of the pencil-dick lawyers, everybody and anybody posting on a "street race aproving" forum could be held liable if one of the forum members breaks or bends something. It may or may not go anywhere, but it would cost either a @!#$load of cash to defend yourself, or a murder rap for putting a baseball bat upside the pencil-dicks noggin a dozen times. (THAT might actually be both fun and worth it). Either way, its bound to make life complicated sooner or later.
