Someone want to look in to this more.... I find it.... Startling to say the least...

Norman Matton Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1911. As a candidate for President of the U. S. , Norman Thomas said, in a 1944 epoch speech: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.
With all that is happening with our
"economy" now....... we may be to late for the Soap box, and the Ballet box....
Some of you know what comes next.

I find it comical that people from the EU are standing up and telling US leaders NOT to get into socialized healthcare. Learn from the EU's mistakes.
But will we listen? of course not.
In case anyone here isn't familiar with this, Daniel Hannan, a Brittish Parliament member, nails exactly what is wrong with our country. You could pretty much replace "Mr. Prime Minister" with "Mr. President", and "Brittish" for "American", and it would fit.
I haven't seen it, but apparently when he was on Hannity last week, he made a similar plea for the US to stay away from nationalized healthcare. From someone who has experience with it, it should carry a very heavy weight when they say don't do it.
Edit: I found and watched the interview. Worth watching. Try to ignore the lack of synchronizing with the audio. LOL.

No, we are just Americans, but not like the "hip" kind most people know of, we are the same kind that Made the Country back in 76.

Have you really been paying no attention what so ever?
This is was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off for years - growing larger all the time - and yes, it did start during the Clinton years. It just so happened to go off during this time. It would not ever have mattered in the slightest whom the candidates where nor even if an election was pending.
Its as simple as gasoline + spark = obvious result. There is no conspiracy involved.
Regarding the topic at hand - I don't think we are gonna see your nightmare scenario - at least during this administration. It was during the primary versus Clinton - where all candidates pander to the base in order to get the party nomination - that Obama(who was still behind Clinton) slammed the idea of forcing "universal health care" (a idea that is very popular with the crowd he was supposed to be pandering too) upon all Americans whether they wanted it or not. He rebutted the Clinton "universal health care" plan like this -
Barack Obama wrote:The reason that millions of Americans don't have health care IS NOT because we aren't FORCING THEM to get it. Its because they can't afford it..
His plan is simply to offer everyone the option to sign up for the very health plan he had as a Senator(not automatically provided but electively paid for). People will still be free to choose any plan(or no plan) that they wish. We're just talking about giving people(especially nice for the self employed) just another option - an affordable option at that. The free market will still be free to offer competitive plans - but the competition will just get steeper.
This is NOTHING like universal health care. This is just a bunch of fear mongering over nothing. In other words... status quo.
Oh I was paying attention...
My dealership sold 150( at the low end) more GM cars than 07,06,05,04,03....
I got a raise, got a new car, and am getting a house.
Yep down in the dumps.
The only bad thing I saw, was this "we are hurting the environment" crap and a 4.00/Gal, that IN AND OF ITSELF crippled the economy.

Universal government run health care is bad.
Government run anything seems to turn bad... I think the main reason is everyone who works for the government knows they have a really bad chance of being fired. And I'm sure as your years of slacking build up the laziness increases in correlation with how the chance of being fired decrease...

WHAT IS so bad about Universal Health care ? LIVING in Canada, I can say that I have no issue with it. Why does this scare you ? Please give me a LOGICAL answer ! Did I fail to mention that I waited for 5 minutes last week to see a doctor ? Do any of you have an sympathy for the millions of Americans without Health Insurance ? IS it no surprise to any of you that the best health care systems in the world are in countries that have universal health care ?
BUT ignore me, and drop the "S-Bomb" it seems to get the simpletons in a rage and on your side.
