It cites that he became president only two weeks before the nomination deadline, but this year, the award went to what the "voters" believed will be his future accomplishments....by yes....reducing nuclear proliferation, playing well with others, and bringing a spirit of hope to the world.
The best part is: the obamaissowonderful TIME commemorative magazines can start plastering the chechout lanes again. Would someone please talk their deranged sibling into killing this guy, so the now global rimjobbbing will stop?

um killing the guy is a bit much, chances are he didnt submit himself. it was just awarded to him.
but i do wonder who lost out over him. nothing against him personally but it seems that what he has done hasnt even had time to know wether it works or fails yet to give him an award. the news mentioned it was for this and that and for the war in iraq. and i was like,,,,, um what has he changed in iraq. he started out saying he was bringing everyone home during the election, and the only thing hes done is added troops. how is that worth of a nobel peace prize.

well heres your reasoning, basically if this is true, they basiccally can give the award out to someone who hasn't done anything.

Wow. Just wow. Talk about the world voicing their unanimous approval of the new guy.
I suppose it's because he is so much closer to the rest of the world's policies than they've ever seen. It's almost as if they are tossing him an "attaboy" out of sheer relief that the old regime has been put aside. Kind of like they feel the Nobel will so empower Obama's initiatives going forward that they can't resist.

You are aware that he was in office for all of 9 days prior to the vote for this, right?
I personally don't have a problem that he won it based on his actions over 9 months. I do however have an issue that he won it after 9 days in office and having done nothing. That alone speaks volumes.
I'd be more than interested for you to post links to his astounding "achievements" in the course of his first 9 days in office.
I do not believe that is when the vote took place, I read that is when the deadline for nominations were. I believe they actually made the decision in the last two weeks.

Was that the actual Vote, or just the Nomination process back in January? If the nomination took place then, I have no problem with that. If the vote recently took place, as I'd presume it did...I have no problem with that either.
Everyone should keep in mind...the prize is not always strictly about the person...it's also about what the person symbolizes in terms of hope for world peace.
I correspond with people from all over the world, and many in Europe (it's a hobby of mine that actually wraps around a board game I play worldwide over the web), and we all would be well served to understand just what a beacon of hope Obama has been to the rest of the world.
They are all very concerned with USA, for the USA is a big part of their lives, even half a world away. Obama soothes them, and helps them not perceive the USA as an imperialistic menace bent on world domination. Not saying I agree with their point of view...I just try to embrace it and understand it, and I well realize that the last administration scared the hell out of them.
Somehow I don't think I would last long at my job if I sat here and did jack @!#$, but "soothed" them into feeling okay.

he didnt do anything, the nomination just took place, they can nominate anyone, they couldve nominated me and i did nothing....the winning decision was just made not too long ago.

Diplomacy and the USA's stake in an ever-more global economy may not seem important to you, but it's a very neccesary part of where we need to be in the future. The days are past when we were such an economic powerhouse that we could just ignore the rest of the world. They may never return.

I have been looking into this all day, and that was just the nomination process. Nominees are then evaluated for months afterwords until a decision is finalized. IT was quite obvious with this administration coming in that soothing relations out was a priority.
