Ok guys I have a 97 2.2 5speed. the other day I went off into a ditch and had my friend pull me out. But in the process he hooked it to the front and yanked the bumper and wiring off. Now my car wont start it turns over but just will not fire. SO I was wonding what is wrong with it. did the ingtition wires and starter wires get yanked to. Only thing that is leaking is washer fluid resvor. the raditor is fine. Just wonding why it wont start. If I can get it start I can drive it with out the bumper so any help will be nice thanks?
I don't know why your car wouldn't start because of this. But I have to ask what was your buddy, and you, thinking when you tried to pull a car out by the bumper. Haha I'm diein!
Yea he did. Its laying on the ground under the car. So does that mean I have to buy a new wireloop and re-run the wires?
That big bundle of wires used to run to the PCM, aka the computer. You have bigger problems then you think.

the former." - Albert Einstein
What do I have to do? Do I have to buy a new pcm or what?
get a complete engine bay harness. check out your regional area might be some one getting rid of one or throw up a wanted post in the classifieds. other options are brand new- dealer, or junk yard and hope you don't get one that is corroded or damaged.
next time melt the ice around the front wheels and pour sand for traction and then get out. or if you cant do that when someone is pulling you out hook it up correctly because that was just dumb. Where you guys thinking??
Its better to take your time and do it right the first time then to hurry and break something. good luck.
if in a pinch maybe you can splice the wires back together matching the colors.and also i haven't towed a j in a while.but if i remember correctly doersn't third gen cavys have a little area for hooking tow hooks near the bumper support.kinda like a tow bracket
not that i know of. i usually go back and hook to the subframe. sad thing is that if they did that much damage to that area. probably would of ripped the subframe loose.
could of been tons of different things to do. I know that most likely its going to cost an arm and a leg
if it were my car i would just splice all the wires back together and drive it.if that didn't allow it to run i would junk it as any repair beyond that point is gonna be costly.cav's are cheap here grab another for 500 and the nrepair would be more than that.hopefully you can do it with yourself or a buddy handy with wiring
i have a 96 z24 parts car that i just stripped the engine harness off last weekend, dont know if it'll work on the 2.2l
2002 cavy w/ a large snail
so did ya get it goin or what
No I didnt get it going. I havent had time to even mess with the car yet. Im more then likely am going to swap the 2.2 out for a 3.4 or 3.8 not sure which one yet. Do i have to change motor mounts and make room for the motor swap?
if you are unsure of how ti fix this one wire loom don't attempt the swap alone there is tons of wiring involved

I decided not to mess with it and just sell it. Need to make room for my other car to get it out of my friends way. So im asking $1000.
litle much for a car that don't run ehh especially a 2.2 older cav.thaqt prob has dents from being ditched
I talked to my cousin and he is gunna redo the wiring and the bumper for 100bucks. I talked to my old boss and he said the subframe should be fine.
Hey guys will a 02 bumper fit on my 97? also what motor is in the 02 is it ecotech 2.2 or non eco 2200. I found a wrecked one that fliped and was wondering before I got parts off it.
It will, but you'll have gaps under your headlights unless you switch headlights over.
The 02's had both the Eco and the 2.2 non-eco, the only way to tell which one you have is to look under the hood. Either way the wiring harness is not compatible.
